METHOD AND DEVICE FOR SUPPORTING AND WEIGHING A SHIPPING CONTAINER
A method for supporting and weighing a shipping container, the method including the steps of: providing a shipping container having a corner casting (20); providing a twistlock (30); locating the shipping container such that the twistlock (30) is engaged with the corner casting (20); locating a lifting device (2) inside the corner casting (20), the lifting device (1) having a pair of jaws (3, 4) and an actuator (5); moving the pair of jaws (3, 4) apart using the actuator (5) from a first position to a second position to lift the shipping container relative to the twistlock (30), wherein in the second position the jaws (3, 4) support at least a portion of the weight of the shipping container, and wherein the shipping container remains substantially engaged with the twistlock (30) in the second position; locating a weighing device (10) between the shipping container and the twistlock (30); and moving the pair of jaws (3, 4) from the second position to the first position to apply a force to the weighing device (10), the weighing device (10) providing an indication of the force applied to the weighing device (10).
Container/building system
A container/building system comprising; at least one elongate structural member at least one connecting member, the connecting member able to be realisably connected to the structural member and at least one plate that is able to realisably engage with at least one structural member.
Modular power generation facilities using shipping container-based modules
Systems, methods, and building block modules for modular power generation facilities are disclosed. A method of erecting a modular power generation facility includes producing a plurality of primary modules, each including a housing adapted from an intermodal shipping container having posts, rails, and sills connected together by shipping container corner castings; shipping the primary modules, which include gen-set modules and a switchgear module, to an installation location; positioning the primary modules in a vertical stack; attaching the primary modules to one another in the vertical stack; interconnecting the engine-generators of the one or more gen-set modules with the switchgear of the switchgear module; and operating the engine-generators and the switchgear to provide electricity to a transformer connected to the switchgear in response to a power load demand. The shipping, positioning, and attaching steps are carried out with engine-generators and switchgear operatively installed in the interior of the primary modules.
Modular power generation facilities using shipping container-based modules
Systems, methods, and building block modules for modular power generation facilities are disclosed. A multi-stack modular power generation facility includes first and second pluralities of primary modules and first and second control systems. The first modules are positioned in a first stack to form a first vertical enclosure; the second modules are positioned in a second stack to form a second vertical enclosure; and the first and second modules each include gen-set modules, each with an engine-generator, and a switchgear module ganged to the gen-set modules. Each control system communicates with the respective gen-set modules to coordinate the engine-generators as a unit and to control the loading of each of the generators in response to a power load demand. The second plurality of primary modules are disposed immediately adjacent the first plurality of primary modules such that the second vertical enclosure abuts the first vertical enclosure.
Modular Door Assembly
A modular door assembly is provided and includes a storage container and a modular door. The storage container includes a body defining an interior storage space, a door opening positioned at a door end of the body that is communication with the interior storage space, and a pair of container doors each secured to the door end of the body by a container door hinge. The container doors are movable between a container closed position to cover the door opening and a container open position allowing access therein. The modular door is removably attachable to the door end of the body and closes the door opening with the container doors in the open position.
Tool for use with shipping containers and methods of using the same
Devices and methods for creating a secure overhead anchor from which to perform tasks such as climbing, hauling, lifting, and rescuing tasks with respect to shipping containers (e.g., intermodal containers) are described herein. The disclosure relates to a device that can be placed, for example, into corner castings on standardized shipping containers at a distance, for example by a pole or other comparable component, and which can securely fit into the standardized corner castings of a shipping container even when a twistlock device or similar component is installed in the casting to hold the target container to another container above or below it. A head of the device can be rotated between a first configuration for inserting the device into the casting, and a second configuration for securing the device to the casting. Methods of using the device are also provided.
