A controller, upon a web roll being set on a web roll support shaft: drives a brake to apply a braking force of a first value to the web roll support shaft, the first value being a value at which the web roll does not rotate when a predetermined tension is applied to a web, and drives a conveyance motor to generate a drive force for the predetermined tension; drives the brake with the drive force generated to gradually reduce the braking force from the first value while determining whether rotation of a conveyance roller starts; and upon determining that the rotation of the conveyance roller starts, determines a second value of the braking force as an initial value of the braking force in conveyance of the web for printing, the second value being a value at which the rotation of the conveyance roller starts.

LOCKING ROLLER ASSEMBLIES FOR ROLLER CONVEYORS
20190185269 · 2019-06-20 ·

Locking roller assemblies for locking and unlocking a roller of a roller conveyor. The disclosed locking roller assemblies include rollers that, by default, are locked from rotation in the absence of a transferred object such as a container, crate, or pallet. When an object is present over the roller, the roller is passively actuated by the object to unlock and release the roller, enabling the roller to rotate. When the package or article has passed by the roller, the locking roller assembly resumes the default configuration of locking the roller to prevent rotation. In some embodiments, actuation of the locking mechanism is parallel to the roller axis and accomplished by a lever and cam arrangement. In other embodiments, actuation of the locking mechanism is in a direction that is orthogonal to the roller axis and accomplished by a plunger arrangement.

A brake mechanism for a pallet storage system includes a leg defining a stop surface and movable between a stop position, wherein the stop surface is disposed within a travel path of a pallet traveling along a pallet storage system, and a go position, wherein the stop surface is displaced from the travel path. A biasing mechanism having a spring force is coupled to the leg and configured to bias the leg towards the stop position such that the spring force is required to be overcome to permit the leg to move from the stop position to the go position. Pallet storage systems including at least one of such brake mechanisms are also provided.

A load-conveying and transport apparatus includes a first frame, a conveyor carried by the first frame, and a second frame mounted to the first frame for movement between lowered and raised positions relative to the conveyor. The second frame lies below the conveyor, when the second frame is in the lowered position relative to the conveyor. The second frame lies proud of the conveyor, when the second frame is in the raised position relative to the conveyor. The conveyor is for conveying a load placed thereon without interference from the second frame, when the second frame is in the lowered position relative to the conveyor. The second frame is for supporting the load placed thereon above the conveyor for disabling the conveyor from conveying the load, when the second frame is in the raised position.
