Printing sheet brake
A device for decelerating a transported and flat shaped product includes a brake operable by an air jet supplied by an air jet nozzle. The air jet nozzle is configured to impinge the air jet on a braking force implementing body to exert a braking force on the flat shaped product. The braking force implementing body includes: at least one first element, which has a physical structure for a return-flow of the air jet supplied by the air jet nozzle, and at least one second element, which for the braking force implementation is in an operative connection with the first element. The second element is configured to implement an impulse force caused by the air jet from the air jet nozzle. The impulse force results as the braking force onto the flat shaped product.
Sheet conveyance apparatus
When an open hole is detected at the front end of a sheet at a conveyance start position, a registration operation to correct a tilt posture of the sheet is avoided, and the present velocity is retrained to convey the sheet without temporarily stopping the sheet having the tilt posture.
Printing apparatus and control method therefor
A printing apparatus comprises a conveyance control unit which controls conveyance of printing sheets so that a trailing edge of a preceding sheet as a printing sheet precedingly fed from the stacking unit and a leading edge of a succeeding sheet as a printing sheet succeedingly fed from the stacking unit overlap each other; and a skew correction unit which performs skew correction of the succeeding sheet while the succeeding sheet overlaps the preceding sheet by the conveyance control unit. The skew correction unit makes the leading edge of the succeeding sheet abut against the conveyance roller during a time from an end of a last line feed operation by the conveyance roller for printing on the preceding sheet by the printing unit to start of a next conveyance operation.

Sheet conveying device, image processing apparatus, image forming apparatus, and sheet conveying method
According to one embodiment, a sheet conveying device includes a conveying roller, a motor, a resist roller, a sensor, and a motor control unit. The conveying roller conveys a sheet. The motor rotates the conveying roller. The resist roller corrects an inclination of the sheet conveyed by the conveying roller. The sensor is positioned upstream of the resist roller and detects the sheet. The motor control unit determines that the sheet abuts on the resist roller after the sheet is detected by the sensor and rotates the motor by a predetermined number of rotations after it is determined that the sheet abuts on the resist roller.

Sheet conveying apparatus and image forming apparatus
A sheet conveying apparatus including: a locking member having an abutment surface abutting a sheet to correct skew feed of the sheet; a holding member configured to hold the locking member to rotate from a waiting position when the locking member is pushed by the sheet; a roller pair configured to nip the sheet abutting the abutment surface; a first urging portion configured to urge the holding member to the waiting position; a movable support portion configured to support the locking member in a manner that the locking member is located a retracted position where the locking member contacts a surface of the sheet and allows the sheet to pass; and a second urging portion configured to urge the locking member to a position where the abutment surface abuts a succeeding sheet.

IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image forming apparatus includes a casing, an image forming unit movable between an accommodated position and a shifted position, an actuator, an urging member, a cam, and a contact portion. The actuator includes a pivot shaft and a protrusion protruding therefrom. The protrusion at a standby position crosses a conveyance path and is contactable with a sheet conveyed along the conveyance path. When the image forming unit is at the accommodated position, the contact portion and the cam contact each other and maintain the protrusion at the standby position against an urging force of the urging member. As the image forming unit moves from the accommodated position to the shifted position, the contact portion and the cam move away from each other such that the protrusion pivots from the standby position, by the urging force, to a retracted position at which the protrusion is retracted from the conveyance path.
