REWINDING APPARATUS AND REWINDING METHOD

This application discloses a rewinding apparatus and a rewinding method. The rewinding apparatus is configured to rewind a strip. The rewinding apparatus includes a rewinding mechanism and a switching mechanism. The rewinding mechanism includes two shafts that are opposite to each other along a first direction and spaced out. The two shafts are configured to rewind the strip along different conveyance paths separately. The switching mechanism includes a moving roller. The moving roller is configured to drive the strip to switch from one shaft to another shaft so that the strip switches from one conveyance path to another conveyance path. The rewinding apparatus and rewinding method disclosed in this application achieve high space efficiency and high switching efficiency.

A material strip collection mechanism coiling fed material strip on a reel includes a vertically positioned reel bracket rotatable about a vertical axis between a first configuration and a second configuration. The mechanism further includes a first arm holding the reel and a second arm each rotatable to drive the reel and coil the material strip on the reel. With the reel bracket in the first configuration, the first arm is in a material strip collection position to allow the material strip to be coiled on each empty reel held by the first arm to form a full reel, while the second arm is in a standby position to allow the full reel held by the second arm to be replaced with a new empty reel.

A transverse turn-up tape track may be extended across a first spool to a track curve and the track curve may be set at a lower position that does not interfere with a paper web during threading, and subsequently repositioned to a position from which a turn-up position may be performed. The paper web threading leader may continue to be wound around the first spool until a full width of the paper web has been spooled onto the first spool. The transverse turn-up tape track may be maintained essentially stationary relative to the first spool.

The taping mechanism includes a guide surface between an outlet of the machine and the coiling mechanism to guide the strip to the coiling mechanism and to guide tape for engagement with a trailing end of the strip and to secure the trailing end of the strip to the coil. The coil ejecting mechanism includes a lever arm that pivots to push the completed coil off the coiling mechanism.
