SLITTER DIRECTOR FOR AUTOMATED CONTROL OF SLIT ROLL GENERATION FROM MANUFACTURED WEB
This disclosure describes techniques for automatically controlling the operation of a slitter (40) to convert a web (20) of material into smaller slit rolls (64, 66, 68). A slitter director (60) may automatically control the operation of a slitter (40) for defect removal, web splicing, and/or slit roll rejection based on continually registering previously-generated anomaly data (62) with physical locations of the web (20).
Image Forming Apparatus
An image forming apparatus includes a housing, a feeding tray capable of being inserted into and pulled out from the housing, a feed roller, and one or more detection units. The feeding tray includes a first accommodation part in which a roll body having a configuration where a sheet-shaped medium is rolled in a roll shape is accommodated and a second accommodation part in which a plurality of sheet-shaped media are accommodated in a state of being stacked. The feed roller feeds a sheet-shaped medium from the feeding tray toward a conveying path. The image forming unit forms an image on a sheet-shaped medium provided in the conveying path. The one or more detection units detect whether a sheet-shaped medium is arranged in a predetermined position in the feeding tray.

PRINTER, PRINTER CONTROL METHOD AND PROGRAM
The printer is a printer for printing on a label continuous body including a label detecting unit having a light-emitting portion configured to emit a detecting light and a light-receiving portion configured to receive the detecting light and a control unit configured to adjust a light emitting output of the detecting light in the light-emitting portion, so as to bring an output voltage from the label detecting unit when the light-receiving portion receives a detecting light through the liner to which the label is not temporarily attached, closer to an output voltage from the label detecting unit when the light-receiving portion receives a detecting light through a state in which there is no label continuous body between the light-emitting portion and the light-receiving portion.
CONVEYER AND IMAGE RECORDING APPARATUS
A conveyer includes: a supporting member which supports a roll body having a sheet wound therearound; a conveyance roller which conveys the sheet; a guide member; an urging member which urges the guide member; a sensor; and a controller. The controller is configured: to determine a target position of the guide member and a permissible position in accordance with the target position; to control a rotation amount of the supporting member and/or a rotation amount of the conveyance roller; to determine whether or not a position of the guide member exceeds the permissible position; and to perform a notification of a conveying error of the sheet.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETECTING IRREGULARITIES ON A MATERIAL STRAND
A method for detecting irregularities on a material strand made of an elastomeric material comprises the steps of: (a) providing a material strand which defines a longitudinal axis along which the material strand is to be conveyed; (b) bringing a detection element in contact with the material strand, wherein at least one of the detection element being movably mounted in a direction of deflection transverse to the longitudinal axis and a force can act on the detection element in a force direction, (c) setting up a relative movement between the detection element and the material strand along the longitudinal axis; and (d) detecting at least one of a deflection of the detection element in the deflection direction and a force acting on the detection element in the force direction, so as to detect irregularities in the material strand.

PRINTING APPARATUS AND CONVEYANCE CONTROL METHOD
A conveyance unit includes a feeding unit that feeds a medium from a roll, a conveyance roller pair that conveys the medium toward a printing unit, an intermediate roller pair that conveys, toward the conveyance roller pair, the medium fed by the feeding unit, a first driving unit that rotates a first driving roller, and a load changing unit that changes a pressing load acting between a second driving roller and a second driven roller. A control unit can execute a first control that controls the load changing unit such that the pressing load is a first pressing load when the first driving roller is rotated in an intermittent conveyance, and execute a second control that controls the load changing unit such that the pressing load is not generated when the rotation of the first driving roller is stopped in the intermittent conveyance.

PRINTING APPARATUS AND PRINTING METHOD
A printing apparatus that includes a holding unit configured to hold a roll sheet performs supplying the sheet by rotating the roll sheet held by the holding unit; nipping and conveying the supplied sheet; performing printing on the conveyed sheet; detecting occurrence of a print medium jam of the sheet; and, if the printing apparatus has detected a print medium jam of the sheet, performing a control process of supplying the sheet in a state in which the conveying is stopped.
