The invention relates to a dental tool having a shank region, which is formed for coupling to a dental handpiece, and also having a work region, which is connected to the shank region. In this case, the shank region of the dental tool is formed so that there is the possibility of latchable insertion and removal without actuation. In particular, at least the shank region can consist of plastics material. As a result, inter alia facilitated handling of the tool and inexpensive production of the tool are rendered possible.

A dental tool can include a handpiece with a working tip. The working tip can be driven by the handpiece to oscillate. The oscillations have a rate of less than 500 cycles per second, in order to reduce or eliminate the generation of aerosols created by oscillation of the working tip. The working tip can include a set of teeth to remove calculus, stains, or plaque from a tooth surface, or can include an abrasive surface or coating, or a prophy cup.

The dynamic seal includes a seal carrier including a first portion having a first feature for receiving a first compliant member and a second portion having a second feature for receiving a second compliant member, and a flange disposed between the first feature and the second feature.

Various embodiments for cleaning carious regions of a tooth are disclosed herein. For example, a dental apparatus can include a fluid platform having a chamber sized and shaped to retain fluid. The chamber can be configured to be coupled to the tooth over the carious region. A pressure wave generator having a distal end may be configured to be positioned in the chamber. The pressure wave generator may be configured to generate pressure waves in the retained fluid sufficient to clean the carious region.

Systems and methods are generally described for an oral hygiene device. The oral hygiene device may include a handle portion and a head portion coupled to the handle portion and including a pick head interface. A pick head may be removably coupled to the pick head interface. The pick head may include a pointed pick member. An image capture device may be disposed in the head portion. The image capture device may be effective to capture image data representing images of an area proximal to a tip of the pointed pick member. A vibration element may be coupled to the pick head interface. The vibration element may be effective to vibrate the pick head.

This application relates to oral hygiene and/teeth cleaning devices and associated methods. The devices can be configured to have a shape that allows all or substantially all of a user's teeth to be cleaned at once. In some embodiments, the devices are configured to be useable, for example, without access to water or a bathroom. The devices can be used to freshen up and clean the user's mouth on-the-go.
