Embodiments relate to a systems and methods for preventative irradiative dental treatment. In accordance with one embodiment, a system and method include using a radiation source to generate a radiation; using an optic disposed to accept the radiation to internally reflect he radiation at a first end; using at least one side of the optic to contact a dental hard tissue; using the optic to couple some of the radiation into the dental hard tissue; and, using a controller to control a parameter of the radiation to heat a surface of the dental hard tissue.

Systems and methods are generally described for an oral hygiene device. The oral hygiene device may include a handle portion and a head portion coupled to the handle portion and including a pick head interface. A pick head may be removably coupled to the pick head interface. The pick head may include a pointed pick member. An image capture device may be disposed in the head portion. The image capture device may be effective to capture image data representing images of an area proximal to a tip of the pointed pick member. A vibration element may be coupled to the pick head interface. The vibration element may be effective to vibrate the pick head.

The invention also relates to a process for cleaning tooth surfaces with a powder jet device, wherein the powder comprises cyclodextrin and the invention relates to a powder or powder mixture for use in a powder jet device, wherein the powder or powder mixture comprises cyclodextrin.

A dental polishing cup includes a body that defines a cup cavity for holding a dental treatment material, with the cup having an opening at its distal end. A portion of the body includes an enhanced-flexibility band (EFB) situated circumferentially at a certain distance from the distal end, the EFB providing a lesser stiffness of the body than other portions of the body that are situated lengthwise immediately distally and immediately proximately of the EFB.

A dental apparatus for tooth stain removal comprising an elongate body formed of a single piece of plastic. The dental apparatus comprising a distal portion of the body having a distal end for contacting a tooth, wherein the distal portion is pointed and angled relative to an axial direction of the body for contacting and removing stains from a tooth. The present invention concerns a novel use of therapeutic hydrogels in nonsurgical techniques to promote healing and regeneration of tissues whose structure and functions have been diminished due to chronic inflammatory disorders. More particularly, the invention provides therapeutic and regenerative hydrogel compositions and their nonsurgical delivery to periodontal treatment sites to treat periodontal and peri-implant diseases. Furthermore, the invention concerns a novel technique which involves the injection of said sterile therapeutic biomimetic hyaluronic acid hydrogel to which are tethered at least one host modulating agent, such as tetrahydrocurcuminoids, THC, and at least one additional tissue regenerative agent into the gingival connective tissue proper. The host modulating agent potentiates the periodontal tissue regeneration at the periodontal treatment site, while the biomimetic hyaluronic acid hydrogel serves in a dual capacity as a drug, a tissue regenerative agent carrier and as a biodegradable matrix around which the new connective tissue can regenerate. The invention also concerns oral care gel and paste compositions of at least one host modulating agent tethered to the HA tissue regenerative hydrogel formulated to be used in a synergistic home-based oral care regimen.

Systems and methods are generally described for an oral hygiene device. The oral hygiene device may include a handle portion and a head portion coupled to the handle portion and including a pick head interface. A pick head may be removably coupled to the pick head interface. The pick head may include a pointed pick member. An image capture device may be disposed in the head portion. The image capture device may be effective to capture image data representing images of an area proximal to a tip of the pointed pick member. A vibration element may be coupled to the pick head interface. The vibration element may be effective to vibrate the pick head.

Rotating dental systems and related guards and methods are disclosed. In some instances a guard may be configured to prevent material from building up on at least a portion of the dental system. The guard may be configured to prevent materials from being discharged from the dental system. In some embodiments, the guard may also be configured to direct the flow of material along a portion of the dental system. Some guards within the scope of this disclosure comprise bristles.

A medical robotic work station includes a frame and a robotic manipulator mounted on the frame for performing a treatment procedure on a patient seated in a chair adjacent the frame. The patient is in a seating posture and support locations are provided on the frame for resting bony members of the patient. Sensors track movement and position of the body members of the patient during performance of the treatment procedure by the robotic manipulator. The robotic manipulator is adapted to perform at least one of a medical, a dental, an ophthalmic and an orthopedic treatment procedure. A physician sits at a display monitor of a physician's work station for programming, monitoring and verifying a robot program for controlling the robotic manipulator to perform the treatment procedure.

An oral care refill head and an oral care kit comprising the same. The oral care refill head may include a sleeve portion, a head portion, and an elastomeric prophy cup. The sleeve portion may have an inner surface that defines an internal cavity for receiving a portion of a stem of an oral care implement handle therein so that the oral care refill head can be repetitively attached to and detached from the oral care implement handle. The elastomeric prophy cup may comprise an outer surface that forms at least a portion of a peripheral side surface of the head portion. The elastomeric prophy cup may be formed by injection molding an elastomeric material onto a support portion of the head portion. The oral care refill head may be packaged together with a store of an anti-sensitivity oral care material to form a kit.
