Provided is a mouthpiece which is mounted in an oral cavity for use in changing the shape of the skull including the maxillary bone and is composed of a plurality of segment pieces, at least some of the segment pieces being configured to approach or be spaced apart from each other by means of a screw, wherein the surfaces of the segment pieces facing or contacting the skin in the oral cavity are configured such that the segment pieces overlap with each other, such that a gap does not occur in spite of the approaching or spacing-apart movement of the segment pieces relative to each other.

DENTAL APPLIANCE WITH A SURFACE HAVING DISCRETE STRUCTURES

A method for making a dental appliance configured to position at least one tooth of a patient includes printing a hardenable liquid resin composition on a major surface of a polymeric material to form a pattern of discrete unhardened liquid regions thereon; at least partially hardening the unhardened liquid regions to form a corresponding array of structures on the major surface of the polymeric material, wherein the structures have a characteristic cross-sectional dimension of about 25 microns to about 1 mm, and a feature spacing of about 100 microns to about 2000 microns; and forming a plurality of cavities in the polymeric material to form the dental appliance including an arrangement of cavities configured to receive one or more teeth.

An edentulous mouth insert appliance for mounting upon the edentulous gum of a patient, comprises a u-shaped frame formed of a rigid flexible material, with a portion to embrace the gum and a portion extending beyond the gum with an exposed surface to replicate a bite aligned with the corresponding occlusal plane. The frame has a base supporting a pair of inner and outer side walls spaced apart by the base a distance allowing the frame to encircle and cover the edentulous gum with a space between inner surfaces of the frame and the gum. A fill within the frame fills the space between the frame and the gum upon which the appliance is fitted, providing a void-free seal between the apparatus and the gum.

A dental appliance having an integrally formed reservoir and/or an ornamental design integrated thereon. The ornamental design can be selected or customized by a patient. The design can be created by directing energy to the dental appliance to alter a material property of at least a portion of the appliance to create the design. Alternatively, a groove or recess can be formed on a surface of the appliance to either mechanically retain an ornamental design or the groove or recess can be filled with ink to form the design. The appliance, including the integrally formed reservoir, can be formed using direct fabrication techniques.

Tooth Whitening Kit and Method of Whitening Teeth

A tooth whitening kit and method of whitening teeth using the same. The method may include applying a tooth whitening composition directly to surfaces of a user's teeth, exposing the surfaces of the user's teeth to ambient air for a first period of time to form a film of the tooth whitening composition on the surfaces of the user's teeth, applying light to the surfaces of the user's teeth for a second period of time while the film of the tooth whitening composition remains on the surfaces of the user's teeth, ceasing application of the light to the surfaces of the user's teeth and leaving the film of the tooth whitening composition on the surfaces of the user's teeth for a third period of time, and removing the film of the tooth whitening composition from the surfaces of the user's teeth.
