Livestock Headgate with Back-Out Prevention Capability for Wide-Necked Livestock
20240292809 · 2024-09-05 ·

A livestock headgate has a pair of gate panels movable between closed and open positions holding an releasing an animal in an exit opening of a livestock chute. Each gate panel, at the inner edge thereof facing the other gate panel, has a respective angled bracing surface for abutting against a respective lateral side of a neck of the livestock animal in the gate's closed position. In a forward direction moving toward a front of the gate that faces outward from the chute, the angled bracing surfaces are of convergent relation to one another, and thus closer together near the animal's head and further apart from one another closer to the animal's shoulders. The angled bracing surfaces help prevent back-out of wide-necked animals from the closed gate, and may be embodied as auxiliary bracing members of an optional add-on kit for a standard head gate.

Livestock head holder with singular operating lever for closing, unlocking and opening same
10039262 · 2018-08-07 · ·

A livestock head holder features a top holding member, a bottom holding member and an intermediate link connecting same. An operating lever connected to the bottom holding member so that downward pulling of the operating lever performs a closing stroke of the head holder that swings both holding members into place against the animal's neck. A lock and release mechanism automatically blocks the linkage from performing a reverse opening stroke that withdraws the holding members away from one another under raising of the operating lever. The operating lever is arranged to release the locking action during initial raising of lever to enable completion of the opening stroke, thereby using the same lever for all opening, closing and unlocking functions, whereas prior designs required a separate lock-release mechanism.

HOLDER FOR COMBINATION INJECTOR AND SPRAY DEVICE

A holder for a medicament administration device can include a base member, a movable member disposed on the base member such that the movable member can move relative to the base member between a first position and a second position, and two or more clamp members. Each clamp member can be coupled to the base member and to the movable member, and can be pivotable between a closed position corresponding with the first position of the movable member and an open position corresponding with the second position of the movable member. When in the closed position the clamp members can engage the head of a subject to restrain the subject against movement relative to the holder.

Bird carriers and methods of restraining birds are disclosed. Each bird carrier may include a torso support, one or more leg clamps, and a head support. The head support may further include a beak receiving passage such that at least a portion of the birds' beaks are exposed. The bird carriers may restrain one or both legs and heads of the birds while supporting their torsos. Restraining the legs and the heads of the birds while supporting their torsos may produce a calming effect such that the birds exhibit significantly reduced struggling in an attempt to free themselves from the carrier.

Folding Head Restraint

A folding head restraint mounted to a cattle hoof trimming chute. The head restraint is mounted at the head gate of the chute and positioned so that the animal's head will be in the head restraint when the chute is in the layover position. The head restraint has a flat center brace and two folding side braces that rotate to the perpendicular when the chute is rotated to the layover position. The side braces are moved by a hydraulic piston operated by remote control. The movement of the side braces correspond to the movement of the chute from the upright to the horizontal position. As the chute rotates the side braces move to perpendicular. This shield's the animal's head, and also helps calm the animal.
