Wearable Active-Compression Therapy and Treatment
20230225929 · 2023-07-20 · ·

Apparatus and associated methods relate to a wearable compression therapy system for ambulatory therapy, the system including a wearable garment having one or more inflatable chambers, and a pneumatic engine locally coupled to the garment to provide control and inflation of the one or more inflatable chambers. In an illustrative embodiment, the pneumatic engine may control a pump and one or more valves to inflate the inflatable chambers. The valves and pump may be coordinated according to a pre-programmed profile. In some embodiments, the pneumatic engine may have a wireless interface configured to receive control signals from a remote mobile device untethered from the garment. The pneumatic engine may send to the remote mobile device signals indicative of sensed conditions of the compression therapy system. In some embodiments, the pneumatic engine may include a power source that advantageously permits the user to be untethered from a source of power.

Personal augmentation suit and method for assisted human motion with back differential assembly

A human motion assistance device has upper back straps and is configured to attach to a user. A leg strap arrangement with lower back straps is configured to attach to the user. A differential assembly is connected between the upper back straps and lower back straps to reduce resistance of the upper torso harness and leg strap arrangement during gait. When crouching or lifting, the differential assembly transfers force to stretch and retract the upper torso harness and leg strap arrangement, which provides human motion assistance. The differential assembly can be implements as an x-bar, lever arm, pulley, gears, or tube. The leg strap arrangement has a knee pad adapted to cover a knee of the user. The knee pad opens along a segment. The upper torso harness has a shoulder strap and buckle. The leg strap arrangement is an elastic material.

CUSTOMIZABLE FITTED APPARATUS

A customizable fitted device for immobilizing injuries and a method for constructing the fitted device is provided. The fitted device can be used to stabilize an arm, wrist, hand, leg, knee, ankle, foot or other body parts through custom formation. The device can be formed by a sidewall having one or more sidewall sections that can be secured together using retaining clips positioned within retaining clip slots on the device. The device can further include one or more openings defined in the sidewall of each device section while maintaining rigidity in the sidewall. The device can be constructed by of creating a 3D image scan of the particular body part on which the device will be applied, creating a design of the device to precisely match the contours of the 3D image scan, and using a 3D printer to construct the device according to the design.

DOUBLE ACTING ORTHOTIC JOINT, ORTHOSIS AND METHODS OF USE

An orthotic joint device has an attachment member rotatably attached to the joint device for rotation in a first direction, a resistive element such as a spring, and a first lever for transmitting a first direction resistance force from the resistive element to the attachment member. The resistive element may also resist rotation in the second direction opposed to the first via a second lever. The orthotic joint device may be used in an orthosis and in a method of supporting an ankle of a human.

BRACE

A brace may include a knit portion with an ankle strap, a rigid shank on a bottom portion of the brace configured to cover at least an arch portion of the foot, a pad positioned below a heel of the foot, a webbing support system extending from the lateral extensor digitorum longus tendon around the peroneus longus retinaculum tendon, under the bottom of the foot to support the plantar tendon and up the arch and medial side of the foot to the extensor hallucis longus tendon, a lacing system threaded through a portion of the webbing support system at the top medial portion of the foot, and a tightening system that applies a pulling force on the lacing system to cinch the webbing support system.

DYNAMIC SHOULDER BRACE

A novel shoulder brace that can provide active dynamic support to an injured shoulder while providing the capability to also raise the attached arm and support the arm in an elevated position. The brace can be used both in conjunction with a rehabilitation intervention program to maintain or restore range of motion and strength and to assist in functional tasks at work and at home. The brace works by supporting a locking or ratchet mechanism connected to an arm cuff from a chest piece that, when desired, the user can move the arm connected to an injured shoulder and supported by the arm cuff from a normal side resting position to an elevated position 90 degrees from the resting position while transferring the load created by the arm and whatever the hand is holding back to the chest piece and to the torso of the user. A release mechanism can be used to release the locking or ratchet mechanism to let the user lower their arm back to a resting position.

ORTHOSIS, RELATED COMPONENTS AND METHODS OF USE

An orthosis, and components thereof, that may be used as a shoulder brace for immobilization of the arm and shoulder joint may comprise components that may allow for abduction, internal/external rotation and allow for flexion and extension simultaneously. Methods of using the brace and methods of using the brace and treating shoulder injuries are similarly provided.

SKELETAL STRUCTURE CORRECTION APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ASSESSING RISK TO MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM OF WORKERS

Provided are a skeletal structure correction apparatus and a skeletal structure correction method for assessing risks to a musculoskeletal system of a worker. The skeletal structure correction method quantitatively determines an analysis time and uncertain body motions by providing an assessment tool for significantly reducing the workload of ergonomic/industrial engineering experts investigating the risks to the musculoskeletal system.

Rotator cuff exercise device

An apparatus is designed to provide support and correct form in order to perform rotator cuff strengthening exercises, either for rehabilitation or prevention of injury. In an exemplary embodiment, a cuff holds a person's elbow fixed at a position substantially perpendicular to curved plate secured to and parallel to a person's vertical (i.e., longitudinal) axis at the person's torso, which helps isolate internal and external rotation of the humerus and reduce any compensatory motions that can occur when the elbow is not supported. This optimally strengthens these important shoulder movements which in turn allows athletes to improve their upper extremity strength.

Shoulder brace device

A shoulder brace device includes: a torso band, an arm band, and a brace mechanism, such that the brace mechanism is configured to connect to the torso band and the arm band; wherein the brace mechanism includes a ball joint assembly, such that the shoulder brace device enables free range of movement; wherein the brace mechanism can be locked in place or tightened for reduced range of movement.
