Apparatus and Method for Delivering Fluids and/or Gases to the Lungs
An apparatus and method for providing heat exchange in the lungs of the mammal during partial liquid ventilation are provided. The apparatus and method can control delivery and removal of partial liquid ventilation to the lungs of a mammal by responding to pressure change in the lungs to minimize danger of causing barotrauma to the patient.
ANCHOR FOR USE WITH PATIENT RESTRAINTS AND ASSOCIATED METHODS
A restraint anchor in accordance with at least one of the present inventions includes an attachment member that is adapted to be secured to a patient restraint and a base member, associated with the attachment member, that is adapted to be secured to a portion of a patient support apparatus.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR INFANT POSITIONING FOR REDUCTION OF SUDDEN INFANT DEATH AND PLAGIOCEPHALY
A garment includes a body. Right and left sleeves are coupled to the body. The right sleeve and the left sleeve each include a first fastener that is operable to secure the right sleeve and the left sleeve to the body, respectively. Right and left legs are coupled to the body. The right leg and the left leg each include a second fastener that is operable to secure the right leg to the left leg. Third fasteners are arranged on a back portion of the body.

Apparatus for Hip and Knee Abduction
An abductor device includes a pair of cuffs for interfacing to respective legs of a user. There is a mechanism for removably holding each cuff of the pair of cuffs to a respective leg of the user and a mechanism for maintaining a range of separation between each cuff of the pair of cuffs. This range of separation ranges from a minimum distance between each cuff of the pair of cuffs to a maximum distance between each cuff of the pair of cuffs.
Limb Elevating Assembly
A limb elevating assembly includes a strap that may be wrapped around a limb of a user. A cushion is coupled to the strap. The cushion is wrapped around itself when the strap is wrapped around the user's limb. Thus, the cushion elevates the user's limb on a support surface when the user lies on the support surface. The cushion inhibits bedsores from developing on the user's limb.
Protective covering for preexisting affixed medical equipment safety straps
A disposable cover used to protect preexisting affixed safety straps on medical equipment. The cover includes: 2 protective panels and hook and loop fasteners on the inside for securing the cover to the preexisting affixed strap and hook and loop fasteners on the outer surface to allow the cover to secure to the opposing cover. This disposable protective cover is slipped over the preexisting affixed safety straps that are attached to the medical equipment prior to being used to secure a patients' body/limb to the medical equipment for a procedure, allowing the strap to be protected from infectious fluids.
ACCESSORY DEVICE, A PATIENT IMMOBILIZATION SYSTEM, AND A METHOD OF FORMING A PATIENT IMMOBILIZATION SYSTEM
An accessory device and an immobilization system including the device are provided for positioning at least a portion of a patient's body relative to an immobilization device including a low temperature thermoplastic sheet. The accessory device may include a patient fixation portion and a lock portion. The patient fixation portion is attached to or inserted in the patient during use. The lock portion may extend distally from the patient fixation portion generally along a lock portion axis. The lock portion includes a shape, surface feature, or configuration, such that the low temperature thermoplastic sheet may be conformed to the outer surface of the lock portion of the accessory device, such that unintended separation of the accessory device from the low temperature thermoplastic sheet is prevented. Methods of forming the accessory device and immobilization system are also provided.
ADJUSTABLE POSITION LIMB SUPPORT FOR SURGICAL TABLES, INCLUDING QUICK-CONNECT UNIVERSAL BOOT MOUNT
A surgical boot mount for mounting a surgical boot to a support rod of a limb holder, the surgical boot mount comprising: a projection having a first section and a second section, wherein the first section is attached to the sole of the surgical boot, wherein the first section comprises a first diameter and the second section comprises a second diameter, and further wherein the second diameter is larger than the first diameter; and a releasable locking mechanism mounted to the support rod of the limb holder, wherein the releasable locking mechanism comprises a first key comprising a first keyway and a second key comprising a second keyway, wherein the second key is slidably connected to the first key, wherein the first key is biased away from the second key, wherein the first keyway and the second keyway overlap to form an opening at least as large as the second diameter when an inwardly-directed force is applied to the first key so as to overcome the bias, and further wherein the opening is reduced to a size smaller than the second diameter when the inwardly-directed force is released from the first key.
APPARATUS FOR DAMPING INVOLUNTARY HAND MOTIONS
An apparatus for damping involuntary hand motions occurring in at least first and second directions is provided, the first direction being opposite the second direction. The apparatus is securable to a hand and a forearm and comprises at least a first body having a terminal movable in an internal space in the body. The body contains a Non-Newtonian fluid. A link connects the terminal to a first portion of the apparatus.
