Method and system for distilling alcohol in an alcohol production process

A method and system for distilling alcohol in an alcohol production process is disclosed. The method can include fermenting a mixture of water and milled grain to produce alcohol-laden beer, which can be distilled in a beer column maintained at a subatmospheric pressure to produce a vapor, primarily including alcohol, and whole stillage. Stillage is separated from the whole stillage. Water is evaporated from the separated stillage to produce first-concentrated stillage and first effect steam. Water from the first-concentrated stillage is evaporated with heat from the first effect steam to produce second effect steam. In one embodiment, second effect steam can be used to supply sufficient heat to a side stripper for distilling the alcohol-laden beer. In another embodiment, the method can include generating steam from one or more steam generator to supply sufficient heat to the beer column for distilling the alcohol-laden beer.

PROCESS OF EXTRACTING OIL FROM THIN STILLAGE

The present invention relates to processes of recovering oil after liquefaction and/or from thin stillage and/or syrup/evaporated centrate from a fermentation product production process by adding a thermostable protease to the whole stillage, thin stillage and/or syrup.

Processes for recovering products from a corn fermentation mash
11987774 · 2024-05-21 · ·

Processes and systems for recovering products from a corn fermentation mash. In one example, a process for recovering products from a corn fermentation mash can include separating ethanol from a fermentation mash to produce a whole stillage. The fermentation mash can be derived from a ground corn product milled from a plurality of corn pieces. The plurality of corn pieces can include whole corn kernels, fragmented corn kernels, size-reduced corn kernels, milled corn kernels, or a mixture thereof. Greater than 25 wt % of the ground corn product can have a particle size of greater than 105 ?m and greater than 80 wt % of the ground corn product can have a particle size of 425 ?m or less, as measured according to AOAC 965.22-1966. The process can also include separating the whole stillage to produce a fiber rich portion and a filtrate.

DISTILLATION COLUMN HAVING REMOVABLE TRAY ASSEMBLY

A distillation column and tray assembly is disclosed herein. The distillation column includes a removable inner tray assembly with adjustable downcomer tubes. The removable tray assembly enables the user to selectively change distillation plates when so removed. When removed, a distiller or brewer may adjust the downcomer tubes to change the fluid level on the distillation plates, or bypass certain distillation plates completely. Certain embodiments of the invention include a feature of an O-ring recessed around a perimeter of the plates permitting a tight seal and reducing manufacturing costs.

EFFICIENT DISTILLATION OF ETHANOL
20190233354 · 2019-08-01 ·

Systems and methods in accordance with the present invention provide for the efficient distillation of ethanol in an ethanol plant including a beer column. Heat is captured in the distillation process and utilized to drive operations in the ethanol plant.

METHOD FOR REFINING RECTIFIED ALCOHOL AND APPARATUS FOR IMPLEMENTING SAME
20190218487 · 2019-07-18 ·

The present invention relates to the field of food industry and to pharmacology and medicine, and it is intended for refining water-alcohol mixtures by the way of de-rectifying and homogenizing those mixtures, and also it will find a wide application in manufacturing and processing beverages or liquid medicaments based on rectified spirit. The objective of the invention is to create such a method for refining rectified alcohol, which would ensure maximum improvement of a beverage by small changes in its structure while maintaining the original taste of the initial product, as well as creating a device for refining rectified alcohol that would ensure the high efficiency of the processes for de-rectifying and homogenizing of the beverage evenly throughout the rectifying column with minimal production costs.

METHOD FOR EXTRACTING ALCOHOLS FROM AN INITIAL MIXTURE COMPRISING ALCOHOLS IN AQUEOUS PHASE

The invention relates to a process for extracting alcohols from an initial mixture (1) comprising alcohols in aqueous phase, with: a distillative separation by an isopropanol-butanol distillation column (III) equipped at the top with a condenser (c3), intended for separating said mixture into a water-isopropanol azeotrope stream (6) at the top and into a water-butanol azeotrope stream (7) at the bottom, a distillative separation intended for separating the water-butanol azeotrope stream into water and butanol, by a hetero-azeotropic distillation system comprising at least one water-recovering water column (IV) and at least one butanol (9)-recovering butanol column (V) equipped with a reboiler (r5),
such that a heat transfer is performed from the top water-isopropanol azeotrope stream (6) entering the condenser of the isopropanol-butanol distillation column (III), to the stream entering the reboiler of the butanol column (V).

PROCESS AND SYSTEM FOR PRODUCT RECOVERY AND CELL RECYCLE

The invention is directed to a method for recovering at least one product from a fermentation broth. The invention relates to the use of a vacuum distillation vessel to recover products, such as ethanol, from a fermentation broth, where the fermentation broth comprises viable microbial biomass, and where the recovery of the product is completed in such a manner to ensure the viability of the microbial biomass. The invention provides for product recovery at an effective rate so as to prevent the accumulation of product in the fermentation broth. To ensure the viability of the microbial biomass, the invention is designed to reduce the amount of stress on the microbial biomass. By ensuring the viability of the microbial biomass, the microbial biomass may be recycled and reused in the fermentation process, which may result in an increased efficiency of the fermentation process.
