Removing debris from a hydrocarbon fluid

A hydrocarbon production apparatus that removes debris from a hydrocarbon fluid is described. The apparatus includes a first conduit, a second conduit, a valve, and at least one baffle. The first conduit includes an inlet, an outlet, and a flow path that extends between the inlet and the outlet. The flow path can receive a flow of a hydrocarbon fluid, which includes debris, from the inlet and direct the hydrocarbon fluid from the inlet to the outlet. The second conduit includes a debris receptacle. The valve is fluidly coupled to the second conduit and can isolate the debris receptacle from the flow path of the first conduit and at least a portion of the second conduit. The at least one baffle is oriented to direct at least a portion of the debris from the flow path of the first conduit to the second conduit.

Large scale acoustic separation device

Devices for separating a host fluid from a second fluid or particulate are disclosed. The devices include an acoustic chamber, a fluid outlet at a top end of the acoustic chamber, a concentrate outlet at a bottom end of the acoustic chamber, and an inlet on a first side end of the acoustic chamber. An ultrasonic transducer and reflector create a multi-dimensional acoustic standing wave in the acoustic chamber that traps and separates particulates (e.g. cells) from a host fluid. The host fluid is collected via the fluid outlet, and the particulates are collected via the concentrate outlet. The device is a large-scale device that is able to process liters/hour, and has a large interior volume.

TRANSPORTABLE MULTI-CHAMBER WATER FILTRATION SYSTEMS

A transportable multi-chamber water filtration system useable at construction sites with sources of contaminated water is disclosed. The transportable multi-chamber water filtration system removes sediment and contaminants from contaminated water by combined processes of gravitational settling, filtration and coagulation of sediment by the use of flocculants. The system provides efficient removal of sediment and contaminants from the water around various sized sites.

METHODS, APPARATUS, AND SYSTEMS FOR DETECTING AND REMOVING MICROPLASTICS FROM WATER

Methods, apparatus, and systems are provided for detecting and removing microplastics from wastewater effluent. Both, automatic/remote and manual monitoring and sampling components are included to detect the presence of microplastics. The automatic monitoring and sampling component includes a TSS sensor and associated apparatus calibrated to account for non-plastic solids present in the wastewater and, thereby, more accurately determine the presence of microplastics. Efficient separation and removal of microplastics from wastewater effluent is performed by a specialized capture net apparatus having multiple sized mesh components and optional diffuser devices which perform size exclusion filtration of microplastics from the water. In an exemplary embodiment, the methods generally include diverting treated wastewater effluent from a wastewater treatment facility's main line into a wastewater sampling mechanism via an intake pipe, and then into a solids monitoring and separation mechanism which includes the specialized capture net apparatus.

A removal device for removing gas bubbles and/or dirt particles from a liquid in a liquid conduit system includes a housing having an entry and an exit and, a main ongoing flow channel which extends through the housing from the entry to the exit, a plurality of branch flow channels, each branch flow channel branching off from the main flow channel at a branch point, at least one quiet zone which is provided at the ends of the branch flow channels, at least one return flow channel for a return flow from the at least one quiet zone back to the main flow channel, where the return flow channel merges with the main flow channel at a merge point, and where the branch flow channels are defined by plates which are curved.

Lamella for clarifier and lamellar module for clarifier

A lamella for a clarifier formed by a rectangular or square plate, the upper edge and the lower edge of which run parallel to a transverse direction, the two remaining edges running parallel to a longitudinal direction, the plate being provided with longitudinal folds curved in the longitudinal direction and running from the upper edge to the lower thereof; the plate being curved longitudinally, so that the area closer to the lower edge of the plate is less inclined relative to the horizontal than the area closer to the upper edge.

Systems and methods for optimizing the performance of olefin plant quench water separators

Systems and methods of removing coke/tar from water in a quench water recycling loop of a steam cracker quench system are disclosed. The systems include a quench water separator that has a feed calming compartment for reducing eddies in feed to the quench water separator. The feed calming compartment is defined, at least in part, by a perforated baffle in the quench water separator. The methods include the use of the quench water separator with the perforated baffle and the calming compartment to separate coke/tar from quench water in the quench water recycling loop.

LIQUID TREATMENT UNIT AND METHOD

A liquid treatment unit removes particulate matter and colloids from a liquid, as found in waste water on mines, on construction sites and on heavy industry sites. The liquid treatment unit includes an electrocoagulation unit and a cyclonic separator unit. The liquid to be treated is first subject to electrocoagulation and then fed into the cyclonic separator unit. The cyclonic separator unit guides the electrocoagulated liquid in a circular path downwardly from an outer perimeter to move underneath a skirt and then upwardly and inwardly towards a central outlet located at the top of the cyclonic separator. Floating particles are skimmed from the surface outside of the skirt. In moving to the outlet, the liquid passes through a plurality of nested frusto-conical guide members. An ultrasonic transducer is used to collapse bubbles formed by electrocoagulation, and to clean the electrocoagulation electrodes.

VOLUME CONTROLLED HYDRODYNAMIC SEPARATOR FOR STORMWATER TREATMENT

A method, system, and apparatus directed to an innovative approach for the treatment of stormwater utilizing hydrodynamic separator assembly designed to maximize flow movement for more efficient sediment removal and maximize clearance space within assembly to facilitate cleaning and increase storage capacity of trash, debris, and sediment. In particular, the described hydrodynamic separator is an improvement over other hydrodynamic separators known in the art with the inclusion of one or more down pipes which siphon water from the lower portion of the sump chamber. The inclusion of down pipes allows for an improved control of the velocity of the water flow through the device by distributing flow into more than one path.
