CUMENE-PHENOL COMPLEX WITH THERMAL OXIDATION SYSTEM

A process for the treatment of waste water, spent air, and hydrocarbon containing liquid and gaseous streams in the cumene/phenol complex is described. Various effluent streams are combined in appropriate collection vessels, including a spent air knockout drum, a hydrocarbon buffer vessel, a fuel gas knockout drum, a phenolic water vessel, and a non-phenolic water vessel. Streams from these vessels are sent to a thermal oxidation system.

A heat exchanger includes: a cooler/heater, an evaporator and a condensate separator, provided with inlet lines and outlet lines through which flows develop in countercurrent to each other for obtaining through the cooler/heater an incoming flow of hot and humid air and an outgoing flow of cooled cold air. The cooler/heater, the evaporator and the condensate separator are independent units from each other joined by a connection for defining a single-block body on whose outer surface inlet lines and outlet lines are provided. A first conduit places in communication the outlet line with the second inlet line; a second conduit places in communication the first outlet line with the first inlet line; and a third conduit places in communication the first outlet line with the first inlet line. The conduits project from the outer surface that delimits the single-block body.

An osmotic transport apparatus includes a heat conducting chamber having an inner wall, a heat absorption end and a heat dissipation end, an osmotic membrane extending substantially longitudinally along an inner wall of the heat conducting chamber from the heat absorption end to the heat dissipation end, a liquid salt solution disposed in the osmotic membrane, and an inner vapor cavity so that when heat is applied to the heat absorption end, vapor is expelled from the osmotic membrane at the heat absorption end, is condensed on the osmotic membrane at the heat dissipation end, and is drawn into the osmotic membrane at the heat dissipation end for passive pumping transport back to the heat absorption end as more condensate is drawn through the osmotic membrane.

Methods of sequestering carbon dioxide (CO.sub.2) are provided. Aspects of the methods include contacting an aqueous capture ammonia with a gaseous source of CO.sub.2 under conditions sufficient to produce an aqueous ammonium carbonate. The aqueous ammonium carbonate is then combined with a cation source under conditions sufficient to produce a solid CO.sub.2 sequestering carbonate and an aqueous ammonium salt. The aqueous capture ammonia is then regenerated from the from the aqueous ammonium salt. Also provided are systems configured for carrying out the methods.

The sorbent is configured to react with an acid gas within the flow of exhaust gas to neutralize the acid gas and inhibit the formation of salt deposits.

A reactor apparatus and method for removing and/or reducing NOx, CO, carbon particulates and hydrocarbons from exhaust gases produced by industrial processes includes a reactor including an inlet plenum, a reaction chamber, an outlet plenum, and a heat exchanger wherein gases exiting the reaction chamber heat gases entering the reaction chamber. EGR is drawn through a cooling heat exchanger with an injection blower and is delivered through control valves to the reaction chamber, the inlet plenum and to an add fuel mixing chamber whereby mixed fuel and EGR is delivered to the reaction chamber. A feedback controller controls the flow valves responsive to the temperatures in the reaction chamber entrance and the outlet plenum.

METHOD FOR RECOVERING CARBON DIOXIDE GAS AND OTHER GASES

The present invention provides a method including: a gas absorption step of bringing exhaust gas into contact with an aqueous solution containing alkaline carbonate, so that carbon dioxide gas in the exhaust gas is allowed to react therewith, thereby obtaining an aqueous solution containing alkaline bicarbonate; a gas recovery step of recovering a gas containing nitrogen gas and oxygen gas obtained as a result of the gas absorption step; a decomposition step of decomposing at least a part of the alkaline bicarbonate obtained in the gas absorption step into the alkaline carbonate and the carbon dioxide gas; a circulation step of circulating at least a part of the alkaline carbonate obtained in the decomposition step to the gas absorption step; and a carbon dioxide gas recovery step of bringing a gas containing the carbon dioxide gas obtained as a result of the decomposition step into contact with an aqueous solution, thereby recovering the carbon dioxide gas obtained in the decomposition step.

An exhaust gas treatment device includes an exhaust gas line through which a combustion exhaust gas discharged from a power generation facility flows, a waste heat recovery boiler recovering waste heat of the combustion exhaust gas, a branch exhaust gas line provided to be connected between a front stage and a downstream stage of the waste heat recovery boiler on a main exhaust gas line, a nitrogen oxide removal unit removing nitrogen oxide in an integrated combustion exhaust gas into which a combustion exhaust gas flowing through the main exhaust gas line and a combustion exhaust gas flowing through the branch exhaust gas line are integrated, an integrated waste heat recovery boiler recovering waste heat of the integrated combustion exhaust gas from which nitrogen oxide has been removed, and a CO.sub.2 recovery unit recovering CO.sub.2 in the integrated combustion exhaust gas.
