METHOD FOR SELECTIVE REMOVAL OF POLYCYCLIC AROMATIC HYDROCARBONS FROM OILS OBTAINED AS A RESULT OF PETROLEUM PROCESSING

A method for selective removal of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from oils obtained as a result of petroleum processing, including two separate processes: filtration through a porous carbon-containing bed comprising and filtration through microfiltration membranes. The method is particularly useful for purifying oils selected from unconverted oils obtained in hydrocracking processes, products of further processing of these oils, engine oil and used engine oil.

Method of producing hemicellulose extracts

This invention describes a method for the purification of a hemicellulose extract produced for example through hot water extraction. Such extracts often contain large amounts of colloidal material which primarily consists of lignin and other phenolic compounds. These colloidal particles clog equipment such as ultrafiltration membranes, which deem the use of such equipment almost impossible. The unwanted material is very tacky at temperatures between 70 and 120° C. which makes it possible to adsorb it onto a variety of materials. Further, by using an adsorbing material that is wholly or partly contaminated with chemically alike material the purification process is greatly enhanced.

A system, method and device are disclosed for bio-processing a feed stream and providing a constant output by operating a continuous single-pass tangential-flow process. The single-pass process provides high conversion concentration while operating at relatively low feed flow rates, and the process can also be used to provide constant output diafiltration.

Method for removing biopolymer aggregates and viruses from a fluid

The present invention relates to a method for removing biopolymer aggregates and viruses from a fluid. In a first step, the biopolymer aggregates are selectively removed by filtration through a porous, polyamide-comprising shaped body having a native surface. In a second step, the biopolymer aggregate-free fluid is filtered through at least one suitable virus-retentive membrane.
