Electrostatically charged porous nonwoven web, membrane and mask derived therefrom and methods for manufacture and cleaning
A nonwoven web obtained by electrospinning, suitable for the filtration of nano- and/or submicron aerosols, including a multiplicity of fibers of composition C1, the composition C1 including at least 50% by weight of at least one polymer P1 based on the repeat unit resulting from vinylidene fluoride (VDF), the fibers of composition C1 having a degree of crystallinity in polar phase(s), preferentially in solely beta phase, of at least 65% by weight, with respect to their total weight. Also, a process for the manufacture of the web, to a membrane including the web and also to a process for the washing/sterilization of the web or of the membrane.
Acid resistant filter media
Provided are certain membranes useful in the filtration of liquids and removal of various contaminants therein. In certain aspects the membranes have as one component a polyamide such as Nylon 11 and/or Nylon 12. Also provided is methodology for manufacturing such membranes and their use in filtration and purification of liquids. Membranes of the disclosure thus prepared exhibit superior acid stability when compared to polyamide membranes prepared from Nylon 6 or Nylon 6,6.
Cross-linkable zwitterionic polymers and their use in membrane filters
Disclosed are copolymers, comprising a plurality of zwitterionic repeat units, and a plurality of hydrophobic repeat units, wherein the hydrophobic repeat units each independently comprises a cross-linkable moiety; the cross-linked copolymer network, comprising such copolymer; as well as thin film composite membrane comprising such cross-linked copolymer network.

Anion Exchange Separation Article, Methods of Making, and Methods of Using
An anion exchange separation article is provided that is useful for separation of complex samples that contain a mixture of materials having different ionic charges. The separation articles include a plurality of polymeric chains grafted to a porous polymeric substrate that is a solid. The plurality of polymeric chains extends away from a surface of the porous polymeric substrate and the side chains of the monomeric repeat units of the polymer chains are terminated with a guanidinium group or a salt thereof. The separation articles can be used, for example, for separation of biomaterials in a sample based on differences in their charges. Advantageously, the binding capacity of the anion separation articles is salt tolerant.
