The filter cartridge includes a cartridge housing and a filter media contained within the cartridge housing. An engagement fitting extends from the cartridge housing. The engagement fitting to be received by the interface. The engagement fitting includes a base portion and a sealing member. The base portion has an inlet aperture on a first side of the sealing member and an outlet aperture on a second side of the sealing member. An interference member actuator extends axially and distally from one of the first end of the cartridge housing and the first end cap. The interference member actuator is configured to actuate an interference member of the interface from an interference position in which the interface is prevented from being actuated from a bypass mode to a filtering mode to a non-interference position.
BLIND ATTACHMENT INTERFACE FOR FILTER HOUSING ASSEMBLY
A filter housing assembly includes a base unit configured for supporting a removable filter unit. The base unit defining a first receiving cavity having an inside profile inwardly tapered in a first lateral direction in first and second planes positioned normal to each other and intersecting along an axis extending in the first lateral direction. The assembly further includes a bezel unit having a front fascia extending generally parallel to the first plane to a first edge. The bezel unit further defines a first attachment leg extending from a first position inward of the first edge and having a foot with an exterior profile inwardly tapered in the first direction and removably received within the first receiving cavity with the exterior profile in contact with the inside profile of the cavity along respective portions intersected by the first and second planes.
Filter cartridge
A filter cartridge for operatively coupling to an appliance interface to treat a fluid, such as water, being supplied to the appliance. The interface comprises a bypass valve for actuating the interface between a bypass mode in which the fluid flowing through the interface does not flow through the filter cartridge and a treatment mode in which the fluid flowing through the interface is directed through the filter cartridge for treatment by the filter cartridge. The filter cartridge comprises a cartridge housing having a first end and a second end and extending along a housing longitudinal axis through the first end and the second end. A filter media is contained within the cartridge housing between the first end and the second end. The filter cartridge also has a first end cap on the first end of the cartridge housing and a second end cap on the second end of the cartridge housing. A bypass valve actuator is attached to the cartridge housing and extends distally to an actuator distal end. The bypass valve actuator is configured such that the actuator distal end actuates the bypass valve of the interface as the filter cartridge is coupled to interface.

Filter interconnect utilizing a magnetic repulsion force
A filtration system interconnection structure includes a filter manifold and a filter cartridge in magnetic communication produced by two complementary correlated magnets capable of generating a magnetic force when in close proximity to one another. The filter magnet polarity transitions are aligned with the manifold magnet polarity transitions such that a repulsion force is generated between the magnets when the filter cartridge is inserted within the manifold sump. The magnetic repulsion force may be used to move a blocking mechanism or actuate a latch structure in the manifold to secure the filter cartridge within the manifold sump upon insertion, or to provide non-contacting actuation of a downstream valve so as to permit or prevent the flow of fluid. Utilizing correlated magnetism in a filter interconnect further provides enhanced authentication and/or anti-counterfeiting means to ensure that only authorized or OEM filter cartridges can be installed.
