Transcatheter prosthetic heart valve delivery system with lateral offset control
Delivery devices for a stented prosthetic heart valve. The delivery device includes a spindle, at least one cord, and a lateral control feature. The cord is tensioned to crimp the prosthesis to a compressed condition for delivery to a target site. Tension is lessened to allow the prosthesis to self-expand. In a tethered and expanded state in which the prosthesis has self-expanded and is connected to the spindle by the cord, the lateral control feature directs the spindle to a prescribed location relative to the prosthesis appropriate for a functional evaluation of the prosthesis. In some embodiments, the spindle is directed to a center of the prosthesis; in other embodiments, the spindle is held at a commissure of the prosthesis. The lateral control features of the present disclosure assume numerous forms.
Transforaminal intersomatic cage for an intervertebral fusion graft and an instrument for implanting the cage
This disclosure presents various embodiments of a transforaminal intersomatic cage for an intervertebral fusion graft, and an instrument and method for implanting the cage, an embodiment of the cage having a body in the shape of a circular arc and comprising a lateral concave surface, a lateral convex surface, a straight upper surface, a straight lower surface and an end wall having at least one hole, called the end hole, designed to receive a rod of an instrument for implanting the cage between the vertebrae, wherein: the end hole has an orientation that is more or less tangential to the circular arc described by the body; the extremity opposite to the end wall of the body includes a return part extending the body toward the center of the circle on which the circular arc described by the body lies.
Laser-produced porous surface
A method of forming an implant having a porous tissue ingrowth structure and a bearing support structure. The method includes depositing a first layer of a metal powder onto a substrate, scanning a laser beam over the powder so as to sinter the metal powder at predetermined locations, depositing at least one layer of the metal powder onto the first layer and repeating the scanning of the laser beam.
Surgical instrument for deploying a prosthesis
The present invention relates to a surgical instrument (1) for deploying a prosthesis (200) and includes a first layer and second layer assembled together so as to define an internal space accessible to said surgical instrument (1) by means of an opening provided in said first layer, said surgical instrument including at least one sheet (2) made of a flexible resilient material, said sheet continuously overlapping itself one or more times so as to define a plurality of levels forming a spiral (3). The invention also relates to a kit including such a surgical instrument and such a prosthesis.
Morphologically curved sagittal wall of a tibial implant
Disclosed herein are methods of designing and fabricating prosthetic implants having a sagittal wall in which at least a portion thereof traverses a non-linear path. A method of fabricating such a prosthetic implant may include generating a virtual bone model based on image information obtained from at least one bone, determining a proposed height of the prosthetic implant at a first location on the virtual bone model, determining a proposed resection depth into the at least one bone at the first location based at least in part on the proposed height of the prosthetic implant, and determining a curved resection path across a portion of the virtual bone model. The curved resection path may intersect the first location and the prosthetic implant may have a curved sagittal wall corresponding to the curved resection path.
Prosthesis for inguinal hernia repair
The present invention relates to a prosthesis for repairing a inguinal hernia defect. The prosthesis includes a piece of biocompatible material having a preformed three-dimensional shape including: a first portion forming a partial spherical cap surface, shaped and dimensioned so as to substantially conform to the shape of the anterior abdominal wall; a second portion extending from an inferior edge of the first portion and forming a wavy-shaped wall, shaped and dimensioned so as to substantially conform to the shape of the psoas muscle; and a third portion forming an arched part extending longitudinally in the inferior direction from a medial inferior corner of the first portion, the arched part extending radially substantially in the front direction, the third portion being intended to face the medial inferior area of the inguinal anatomy.
Bioanalogic intraocular lens
A bioanalogic implantable ophthalmic lens (BIOL) capable of replacing the natural crystalline lens (NCL) in its various essential functions after the NCL having been removed and BIOL implanted into the posterior eye chamber and placed into the capsular bag vacated from the NCL. At least the posterior surface of the lens has a convex shape and is made from a transparent flexible hydrogel material. At least the anterior and posterior optical surfaces are defined by rotation of one or more conic sections along the main optical axis and the surfaces defined by the rotation will include a plane perpendicular to the axis and conical surface symmetrical by the axis.
Medical retrieval devices and related methods
A medical device may include a shaft and an end-effector extending distally of the shaft. The end-effector may be expandable between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration. The end-effector may include a proximal nose and a distal body. The proximal nose may have a radial dimension smaller than a radial dimension of the distal body in the expanded configuration. The end-effector may include a plurality of legs and a transition point of each leg may be located between the nose and the distal body along a common plane normal to the shaft. The shaft may include proximal ends of the legs wrapped about one another.
BIODEGRADABLE PROSTHESIS
A tympanic membrane prosthesis includes a tubular body having a lumen extending therethrough and open at each of a proximal and distal end. The tubular body forms a structurally self-supporting, body compatible, and body absorbable device. The device is formed of a composite structure that includes an inner portion having an inside surface and an outer portion having an outside surface. The inside surface forms at least a portion of the lumen extending through the tubular body. The inside surface is adapted to provide less resistance to fluid flow than the outside surface. The outside surface is adapted to produce an inflammatory reaction in adjacent tissue at a tympanic membrane. The device is adapted for insertion into an opening through the tympanic membrane for placement with the proximal end and the distal end disposed on opposite sides of the tympanic membrane.
