A catalyst article for treating exhaust gas from a gasoline engine comprising: a substrate comprising an inlet end, an outlet end with an axial length L; a first catalytic region beginning at the inlet end and extending for less than the axial length L, wherein the first catalytic region comprises a first PGM component and a first inorganic oxide; a second catalytic region beginning at the outlet end, wherein the second catalytic region comprises a second PGM component, a second oxygen storage capacity (OSC) material, and a second inorganic oxide; wherein the first catalytic region is substantially free of ceria; and wherein the first PGM component is palladium (Pd), platinum (Pt) or a combination thereof.
Catalytically enhanced compositions for efficient removal of contaminants in flue gas streams
A sorbent composition that is useful for injection into a flue gas stream of a coal burning furnace to efficiently remove mercury from the flue gas stream. The sorbent composition may include a sorbent with an associated ancillary catalyst component that is a catalytic metal, a precursor to a catalytic metal, a catalytic metal compound or a precursor to a catalytic metal compound. Alternatively, a catalytic metal or metal compound, or their precursors, may be admixed with the coal feedstock prior to or during combustion in the furnace, or may be independently injected into a flue gas stream. A catalytic promoter may also be used to enhance the performance of the catalytic metal or metal compound.
NITROGEN OXIDE STORAGE CATALYST
The present invention relates to a catalyst which comprises a carrier substrate of length L, which extends between a first end face a and a second end face b, and catalytically active material zones A, B and C of different composition, wherein—material zone A comprises palladium or palladium and platinum with a weight ratio of Pd:Pt>1, and cerium oxide, —material zone B comprises platinum or platinum and palladium with a weight ratio of Pt:Pd>1, and cerium oxide and/or cerium/zirconium mixed oxide, and—material zone C comprises platinum or platinum and palladium with a weight ratio of Pt:Pd>1, and a carrier oxide, and wherein—material zone B is arranged above material zone A, and—material zone C is arranged above material zone B, and, starting from the second end face b of the carrier substrate, extends over a length of up to 60% of the length L. The invention also relates to a catalyst arrangement containing said catalyst.

A pillar-shaped honeycomb structure including an outer peripheral side wall, a plurality of first cells provided on an inner peripheral side of the outer peripheral side wall, the first cells extending from a first end surface to a second end surface, each opening on the first end surface and having a sealing portion with an average void ratio of 4% or less on the second end surface, and a plurality of second cells provided on the inner peripheral side of the outer peripheral side wall, the second cells extending from the first end surface to the second end surface, each having a sealing portion with an average void ratio of 4% or less on the first end surface and opening on the second end surface, the first cells and the second cells being alternately arranged adjacent to each other with a partition wall interposed therebetween.
Methods for the treatment of a flue gas stream using catalytically-enhanced sorbent compositions

NOVEL TWC CATALYSTS FOR GASOLINE ENGINE EXHAUST GAS TREATMENTS
A three-way catalyst article, and its use in an exhaust system for internal combustion engines, is disclosed. The catalyst article for treating exhaust gas comprising: a substrate comprising an inlet end and an outlet end with an axial length L; a first catalytic region comprising a first platinum group metal (PGM) component and a first oxygen storage capacity (OSC) material, wherein the first OSC material has a fresh specific surface area (SSA) of at least 10 m.sup.2/g; and wherein the first OSC material has an SSA difference of no more than 30 m.sup.2/g between the fresh first OSC material and the aged first OSC material.
Diesel oxidizing catalytic converter
The present invention relates to a diesel oxidizing catalytic converter which comprises a supporting body with a length L which extends between a first end surface a and a second end surface b, and catalytically active material zones A and B of different composition which are arranged on the supporting body, wherein material zone A comprises palladium or platinum and palladium in a weight ratio Pt:Pd of <1 and, starting from the end surface a, extends to from 20% to 80% of the length L, and material zone B comprises platinum and palladium in a weight ratio Pt:Pd of <10 and extends to from 80% to 100% of the length L, and wherein material zone B is arranged above material zone A and the weight ratio Pt:Pd in relation to the material zones A and B is from 1.5 to 3.0.

Composites of mixed metal oxides for an exhaust gas purifying catalyst comprise the following co-precipitated materials by weight of the composite: zirconia in an amount in the range of 55-99%; titania in an amount in the range of 1-25%; a promoter and/or a stabilizer in an amount in the range of 0-20%. These composites are effective as supports for platinum group metals (PGMs), in particular rhodium.

A three-way catalyst article is provided for the treatment of exhaust gas from a positive ignition engine, the catalyst article comprising: a substrate having a first layer provided thereon, wherein a second layer is provided on the first layer, wherein the first layer comprises a first metal and a first alumina, and wherein the second layer comprises a second metal and a second alumina, wherein either (i) the first metal is Pd and the second metal is Rh; or (ii) the first metal is Rh and the second metal is Pd; and wherein at least one of the first and second aluminas comprises theta alumina.
