4-way hybrid binary catalysts, methods and uses thereof
10835866 · 2020-11-17 · ·

The present disclosure describes hybrid binary catalysts (HBCs) that can be used as engine aftertreatment catalyst compositions, specifically 4-way catalyst compositions. The HBCs provide solutions to the challenges facing emissions control. In general, the HBCs include a porous primary catalyst and a secondary catalyst. The secondary catalyst partial coats the surfaces (e.g., the internal porous surface and/or the external surface) of the primary catalyst resulting in a hybridized composition. The synthesis of the HBCs can provide a primary catalyst whose entire surface, or portions thereof, can be coated with the secondary catalyst.

Valve arrangement for split-flow close-coupled catalyst

An aftertreatment system includes a first exhaust gas path, a second exhaust gas path, and a selector valve configured to divert exhaust gas between the first exhaust gas path and the second exhaust gas path based on a temperature of the exhaust gas. The aftertreatment system also includes a controller programmed to control the selector valve such that the selector valve diverts at least a portion of the exhaust gas to the first exhaust gas path when the temperature of the exhaust gas is equal to or less than a predetermined temperature threshold and the selector valve diverts the exhaust gas to the second exhaust gas path when the temperature of the exhaust gas is greater than the predetermined temperature threshold. The first exhaust gas path includes a heater configured to heat the exhaust gas received in the first exhaust gas path.

Pollutant abatement device of an internal combustion engine and pollutant abatement system comprising the device

Device for the abatement of pollutants of an internal combustion engine comprising an external casing in which a DOC and a bypass duct of the DOC is housed to define a bifurcation for the exhaust gases passing through the device, so that a first flow is intended to cross the DOC and a second flow is intended to bypass the DOC, an injector of urea-based reducing agent arranged at or at a point immediately downstream of the bifurcation and an electric heater arranged annularly with respect to the bypass duct and configured to heat the bypass duct and to be passed by the first exhaust gas flow.

DIESEL OXIDATION CATALYST

An oxidation catalyst composite, methods, and systems for the treatment of exhaust gas emissions from a diesel engine are described. More particularly, described is an oxidation catalyst composite including a first oxidation component comprising a first refractory metal oxide support, palladium (Pd) and platinum (Pt); a NO.sub.x storage component comprising one or more of alumina, silica, titania, ceria, or manganese; and a second oxidation component comprising a second refractory metal oxide, a zeolite, and Pt. The oxidation catalyst composite is sulfur tolerant, adsorbs NO.sub.x and thermally releases the stored NO.sub.x at temperature less than 350 C.

Ammonia slip catalyst designed to be first in an SCR system

Catalyst articles having an ammonia slip catalyst (ASC) comprising a blend of platinum on a support with low ammonia storage and a first SCR catalyst, and a second catalyst, such as a diesel oxidation catalyst, a diesel exotherm catalyst (DEC), a NOx absorber, a selective catalytic reduction/passive NOx adsorber (SCR/PNA), a cold-start catalyst (CSC) or a three-way catalyst (TWC) are disclosed. The catalyst articles can also contain one or two additional SCR catalysts. The catalysts can be present in one of various configurations. The catalytic articles are useful for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NOx in exhaust gases and in reducing the amount of ammonia slip. Methods of using the catalytic articles in an SCR process, where the amount of ammonia slip is reduced, are also described.

Cu/LTA catalyst and exhaust system, and manufacturing method of cu/LTA catalyst

Provided herein is an exhaust system comprising a diesel particulate filter coated with a selective catalytic reduction (SDPF) wherein the SCR is coated with a Cu/LTA catalyst comprising a LTA zeolite that includes copper ions and the SCR is coated on a high pore diesel particulate matter filter, wherein a ratio of copper and aluminum is from about 0.14 to about 0.48, and wherein the Si/Al ratio of the LTA zeolite is from about 8 to about 100.

Methods and systems for a particulate filter

Methods and systems are provided for a particulate filter comprising a pretreatment. In one example, a method may include applying a pretreatment to an unused particulate filter, wherein the particulate filter is subjected to incomplete oxidation conditions following application of the pretreatment.

Dual stage internal combustion engine aftertreatment system using exhaust gas intercooling and charger driven air ejector

An exhaust aftertreatment system includes a first stage catalytic converter, a second stage catalytic converter, and a conduit extending from the first stage catalytic converter to the second stage catalytic converter. The conduit passes through an exhaust gas intercooler, between the first and second stage catalytic converts, that reduces the temperature of the exhaust to about 300 F. to about 500 F. Air is ejected into the exhaust conduit to increase the oxygen concentration in the exhaust before it passes through the second stage catalytic converter. The air can be ejected from an air ejection conduit that extends to an engine charger compressor or a compressed air conduit that extends from the engine charger compressor, such as a turbo charger and/or a supercharger, to the engine. A gas particulate filter can be disposed in the exhaust conduit or it can be integrated with the second stage catalytic converter, for example as a catalyzed gas particulate filter.
