Process to convert a sulphur compound
The invention is directed to a process to convert a sulphur compound to bisulphide by direct or indirect transfer of electrons from a cathode of a bio-electrochemical cell to the sulphur compound under anaerobic conditions and in the presence of mixed culture comprising methanogens and suitably also a anaerobic or facultative anaerobic bacteria. The sulphur compound may be a thiol like methanethiol or ethanethiol or a polysulphide, like dimethyl disulphide.
PELLETIZED ACTIVATED CARBON AND METHODS OF PRODUCTION
Activated carbon for removal of sulfur containing materials from fluids. The activated carbon has a high sulfur capacity and can be manufactured without the addition of a catalyst. Lignite is treated to provide an activated carbon with a high mesoporosity and total surface area. The starting material has a high ash content, such as greater than 10% by weight.
Nano-Structured Composite Materials for Chemical Air Pollutant and Odor Removal from Air
Described is related to nano-structured composite materials for removing harmful chemical air pollutants and odors from the air to prevent people from breathing in disease-causing chemicals and provide them with clean indoor air. The nano-structured composite materials comprise nano-catalysts embedded in the pores of nano-structured substrate materials selected from the group consisting of nano-porous carbon, nano-porous rare earth oxide, nano-porous zeolite, nano-porous alumina and nano-porous silica. The nano-scale synergy of nano-catalysts and nano-structured substrate materials provides effective air filtration materials for the complete trapping and elimination of the full spectrum of chemical air pollutants including both organic and inorganic compounds and odors for indoor spaces, which HEPA or activated carbon filters cannot achieve.
SEPARATION OF SULFUROUS MATERIALS
The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for separation of sulfurous material(s) from a multi-component feed stream. The systems and methods can comprise contacting the multi-component feed stream with a solvent in a contacting column so that at least a portion of the sulfurous material(s) is transferred from the multi-component feed stream to the solvent. A stream of a substantially purified gas can thus be provided along with a liquid stream comprising at least a majority of the sulfurous material. In particular, the solvent can comprise liquid carbon dioxide, which can be particularly beneficial for removing sulfurous materials from multi-component feed streams.
METHOD OF PRODUCING A COOLED SYNGAS OF IMPROVED QUALITY
A system and method for processing unconditioned syngas first removes solids and semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOC), then removes volatile organic compounds (VOC), and then removes at least one sulfur containing compound from the syngas. Additional processing may be performed depending on such factors as the source of syngas being processed, the products, byproducts and intermediate products desired to be formed, captured or recycled and environmental considerations.
HYDROCARBON RECOVERY UNITS WITH SEPARATORS CONFIGURED TO REDUCE LIQUID HYDROCARBON EXPOSURE TO REGENERATION GAS STREAMS
Disclosed in certain embodiments are processes for heavy hydrocarbon removal that implement a regeneration loop to reduce an amount of liquid hydrocarbons exposed by the separator to the regeneration stream over one or more durations for which an average C5+ hydrocarbon content of the regeneration stream is reduced or minimal.
CONTINUOUS DESULFURIZATION PROCESS BASED ON METAL OXIDE-BASED REGENERABLE SORBENTS
A continuous desulfurization process and process system are described for removal of reduced sulfur species at gas stream concentrations in a range of from about 5 to about 5000 ppmv, using fixed beds containing regenerable sorbents, and for regeneration of such regenerable sorbents. The desulfurization removes the reduced sulfur species of hydrogen sulfide, carbonyl sulfide, carbon disulfide, and/or thiols and disulfides with four or less carbon atoms, to ppbv concentrations. In specific disclosed implementations, regenerable metal oxide-based sorbents are integrated along with a functional and effective process to control the regeneration reaction and process while maintaining a stable dynamic sulfur capacity . A membrane-based process and system is described for producing regeneration and purge gas for the desulfurization.
ZEOLITE MEMBRANE COMPOSITE, METHOD OF PRODUCING ZEOLITE MEMBRANE COMPOSITE, AND SEPARATION METHOD
A zeolite membrane composite includes a porous support and a zeolite membrane formed on the support. The zeolite membrane includes a low-density layer that covers the support, and a compact layer that covers the low-density layer. The compact layer has a higher content of a zeolite crystalline phase than the low-density layer. By in this way forming the compact layer on the low-density layer that covers the support, the thin compact layer with no defects can be formed more easily than in the case where a compact layer is formed directly on a support.
Method of depleting a volatile component in a mixture using a sorbent crosslinked elastomer and apparatus for practicing the method
A method and apparatus for removing a volatile component from a mixture are disclosed. The method and apparatus employ a crosslinked elastomer with a glass transition temperature ≤+25° C. as the sorbent.
SOLVENT AND PROCESS FOR REMOVING CARBON DIOXIDE FROM A GASEOUS MIXTURE HAVING HIGH CARBON DIOXIDE PARTIAL PRESSURES
The present invention relates to an absorption solvent and, more particularly, to an absorption solvent for removing carbon dioxide from a gaseous mixture having high carbon dioxide partial pressure.
