Purification of carbon dioxide

In a process for separating at least one heavy impurity such as hydrogen sulfide from crude carbon dioxide comprising significant quantities of at least one light impurity such as non-condensable gases, involving at least one heat pump cycle using carbon dioxide-containing fluid from the process as the working fluid, the light impurity is removed from the crude carbon dioxide and carbon dioxide is subsequently recovered from the removed light impurity, thereby improving overall carbon dioxide recovery and efficiency in terms of energy consumption.

Hybrid solvent formulations for selective H2S removal

A method of treating oil and gas streams including hydrogen sulfide (H.sub.2S) comprising treating the gas stream with an aqueous solution of an amine and a physical solvent which, when mixed in equal mass ratio with the amine or amine mixture, display a dielectric constant of at least about 20, wherein the pKa of the amine is at least about 9.0 and the amine boiling point is at least 200 C.

Process for desulphurizing a gas mixture

The invention relates to a process and a device for generating a fuel gas for a gas turbine by separating off sulphur components from a gas mixture containing hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and also carbonyl sulphide and/or hydrogen sulphide, which gas mixture is in this case scrubbed in a physical gas scrubber with a methanol scrubbing medium at a pressure between 30 and 80 bar(a) in order to obtain a first sulphur-free gas mixture and also a methanol scrubbing medium loaded with sulphur components and carbon dioxide, which methanol scrubbing is then regenerated, wherein a carbon dioxide-rich gas phase that contains sulphur components and is formed by pressure reduction is treated in a further gas scrubber with a methanol scrubbing medium in order to back-wash sulphur components and to generate a second sulphur-free gas mixture.

Reclaimer systems and methods of their use are provided. Reclaimer systems use one or more fluid input streams and a variable steam input to control temperature of a fluid in a reclaimer vessel. In certain embodiments, a temperature controller and level controller are both connected to at least one fluid input stream subsystem and a steam input subsystem. Output from the level controller and the temperature controller is used to control flow through both a fluid input stream subsystem and a steam input subsystem. In certain embodiments, selectors are used to determine which controller output to obey when controlling the steam input subsystem and the fluid input stream subsystem. In certain embodiments, lean amine agent and an inert fluid are input in a ratio controlled by a ratio controller in order to maintain the fluid level in a vessel.

CAPTURE AND RELEASE OF ACID GASSES USING TUNABLE ORGANIC SOLVENTS WITH AMINOPYRIDINE

A class of water lean, organic solvents that can bind with various acid gasses to form acid gas bound molecules having a high degree of intramolecular hydrogen bonding which enables their use as regenerable solvents for acid gas capture. Unlike the other devices described in the prior art, the present invention takes advantage of shortened distances between the portions of the molecule that form hydrogen bonds within the structures when loaded with an acid gas so as to create a molecule with a higher internal bonding affinity and a reduced proclivity for agglomeration with other molecules.
