Low pressure drop static mixing system
A contaminated gas stream can be passed through an in-line mixing device, positioned in a duct containing the contaminated gas stream, to form a turbulent contaminated gas stream. One or more of the following is true: (a) a width of the in-line mixing device is no more than about 75% of a width of the duct at the position of the in-line mixing device; (b) a height of the in-line mixing device is no more than about 75% of a height of the duct at the position of the in-line mixing device; and (c) a cross-sectional area of the mixing device normal to a direction of gas flow is no more than about 75% of a cross-sectional area of the duct at the position of the in-line mixing device. An additive can be introduced into the contaminated gas stream to cause the removal of the contaminant by a particulate control device.
ABSORBENT FOR CO2 OR H2S, OR BOTH OF CO2 AND H2S, AND DEVICE AND METHOD FOR REMOVING CO2 OR H2S, OR BOTH OF CO2 AND H2S
An absorbent for absorbing CO.sub.2 or H.sub.2S, or both of CO.sub.2 and H.sub.2S in a gas contains, as components, (a) a secondary linear monoamine, (b) a tertiary linear monoamine, and (c) a secondary cyclic diamine. When the concentration of the secondary linear monoamine (a) is more than 30% by weight and less than 45% by weight and the concentration of the tertiary linear monoamine (b) is more than 15% by weight and less than 30% by weight, absorbability of CO.sub.2 or H.sub.2S, or both of CO.sub.2 and H.sub.2S is good, and releasability of CO.sub.2 or H.sub.2S that have been absorbed during regeneration of the absorbent is good. The amount of steam of a reboiler used during regeneration of the absorbent in a CO2 recovery unit can be thus reduced.
CAPTURING CARBON DIOXIDE
A system for capturing CO.sub.2 from a dilute gas source includes a gas-liquid contactor including a housing coupled to a plurality of structural members; one or more basins positioned within the housing and configured to hold a CO.sub.2 capture solution, the one or more basins including a bottom basin; one or more packing sections positioned at least partially above the bottom basin; a fan operable to circulate a CO.sub.2-laden gas through the one or more packing sections; and a liquid distribution system configured to flow the CO.sub.2 capture solution onto the one or more packing sections.
PROCESS AND PLANT FOR REMOVING THIOLS FROM SYNTHESIS GAS
The invention relates to a process and a plant for removing thiols from synthesis gas. Thiols and optionally thiophene and carbon disulfide are absorbed in a dedicated absorption stage with methanol as physical absorption medium. Methanol laden with at least thiols is freed of thiols in a stripping stage with methanol vapours as stripping gas and the methanol vapours-containing thiols are freed of methanol in a scrubbing stage. The process according to the invention minimizes methanol losses and the amounts of coolant required for the process.
LAND-BASED SYSTEM FOR CAPTURING CARBON DIOXIDE AND SULFUR OXIDE AND CONVERTING THEREOF INTO CARBON RESOURCE
Proposed is a carbon dioxide capture and carbon resource recovery system for land use capable of removing carbon dioxide and recycling the captured carbon dioxide into other useful materials by capturing and converting carbon dioxide in the flue gas using a basic alkaline mixture. The carbon dioxide capture and carbon resource recovery system for land use can reduce carbon dioxide by capturing carbon dioxide in flue gas discharged from lands, such as thermal power plants, LNG, LPG, or fuel cell facilities, and by converting the collected carbon dioxide into sodium carbonate or sodium hydrogen carbonate, the collected carbon dioxide may be converted into other useful materials.
APPARATUS FOR PURIFYING GAS
An apparatus for purifying gas where gas is treated in a multistage treatment having at least two ejector stages, a motive medium including liquid, steam or gaseous agent at high pressure injected by an ejector of the ejector stage, and the gas is sucked into the same ejector and mixed with the motive medium for forming a mixture, at least a part of gas and/or liquid phase of the mixture is supplied to a second ejector stage having so that a second motive medium which includes liquid, steam or gaseous agent is injected to the ejector and the gas and/or the liquid phase is sucked into the same ejector in which the gas and/or liquid phase is mixed with the second motive medium for forming a second mixture, at least one of the mixtures includes an additive for removing impurities of the gas, and a purified gas is formed.
