Efficient antifouling and hydrophilic polyethersulfone ultrafiltration membrane and preparation method thereof
A preparation method of an antifouling and hydrophilic polyethersulfone ultrafiltration membrane includes through the .sup.60Co-γ radiation grafting chemical modification method, evenly distributing an ionic liquid on a surface of a polyethersulfone material, wherein the ionic liquid containing unsaturated bonds is connected with the polyethersulfone material through chemical bonds, and then obtaining an asymmetric porous membrane by the immersion-precipitation phase transformation method, and finally performing Soxhlet extraction on the porous membrane, so as to migrate the grafted ionic liquid from an interior of the porous membrane to a surface of the porous membrane to be enriched, so that the adsorption and antibacterial properties of the porous membrane are improved. A mass ratio of the ionic liquid to the polyethersulfone material is in a range of (2-11):100. The ultrafiltration membrane is an asymmetric porous membrane, and has excellent antifouling properties, good pure water flux and a good BSA retention rate.
Synthetic membranes and methods of use thereof
The present invention relates to synthetic membranes and use of these synthetic membranes for isolation of volatile organic compounds and purification of water. The synthetic membrane includes a hydrophobic polymer layer located on a polymeric membrane support layer. The invention includes a method of isolating volatile organic compounds with the synthetic membrane by contacting a volatile organic mixture with the hydrophobic polymer layer of the synthetic membrane and removing volatile organic compounds from the polymeric membrane support layer of the synthetic membrane by a process of pervaporation. The invention also includes a method of purifying water with the synthetic membrane by contacting an ionic solution with the hydrophobic polymer layer of the synthetic membrane and removing water from the polymeric membrane support layer of the synthetic membrane by a process of reverse osmosis. The invention also relates to methods of isolating non-polar gases by gas fractionation.
UV-GRAFTING PROCESS FOR POLYMERIC FLAT-SHEET MEMBRANES
The present disclosure is related to a polymeric membrane having a first surface and a second surface and a wall extending between the first and second surface, the membrane comprising pores on the first and second surfaces and throughout the wall, the membrane comprising a modified surface, the modified surface comprising acrylate and/or methacrylate polymers and/or copolymers, wherein the modified surface extends at least over the first and/or the second surface, and over the pores of at least 50% of the thickness of the wall. Furthermore, the present disclosure provides a method for producing such a membrane as well as a use of the membranes as disclosed herein for purification of aqueous media such as in biopharmaceutical applications.
SURFACE MODIFIED MEMBRANES FOR GAS SEPARATION, AND A METHOD FOR PREPARING THEREOF
The present invention relates to a CO.sub.2 selective gas separation membrane and a method for preparing the gas separation membrane and the use thereof. The CO.sub.2 selective gas separation membrane comprises a gas permeable or porous support layer; and at least one gas permeable polymer layer, which is surface modified with polymer chains having CO.sub.2 philic groups, wherein the gas permeable polymer layer has a spatially controlled distribution of the CO.sub.2 philic groups on the surface thereof. The method of preparing the CO.sub.2 selective gas separation membrane, comprises the steps of: depositing at least one gas permeable polymer layer on a porous or gas permeable support layer to form a dense membrane, and surface modifying the dense membrane with polymer chains having CO.sub.2 philic groups, to obtain spatially controlled distribution of the CO.sub.2 philic groups on the surface thereof.
HYBRID POLYMER MEMBRANE
The present invention relates to CO.sub.2 capture from gas mixtures by use of gas separation membranes. In particular, the invention relates to a gas separation membrane comprising: a gas permeable or porous support layer; and at least one CO.sub.2 selective polymer layer comprising carbonic anhydrase (CA) enzymes fixed within the at least one CO.sub.2 selective polymer layer. The present invention also relates to the method of separating CO.sub.2 from a gas and to the use of the gas separation membrane.
Synthetic membranes and methods of use thereof
The present invention relates to synthetic membranes and use of these synthetic membranes for isolation of volatile organic compounds and purification of water. The synthetic membrane includes a hydrophobic polymer layer located on a polymeric membrane support layer. A separation membrane sheet that causes a specific fluid component to selectively permeate therethrough, comprises: a first porous layer; and a resin composition layer formed on the first porous layer. The resin composition layer has a filtration residue fraction of greater than or equal to 20% and less than or equal to 90%; and contains a resin having an ionic group or a salt thereof, and has an ion exchange capacity of greater than or equal to 1 millimole equivalent per 1 g of a dry resin in a filtration residue.
Grafted islands-in-the-sea nonwoven for high capacity ion exchange bioseparation
The invention provides polymer-grafted and functionalized nonwoven membranes adapted for use in bioseparation processes, the membranes including a nonwoven web of polyester fibers having an average fiber diameter of less than about 1.5 microns, each of the plurality of polyester fibers having grafted thereon a plurality of polymer segments constructed of a methacrylate polymer, each polymer segment carrying a functional group adapted for binding to a target molecule. The invention also provides a method of bioseparation comprising passing a solution comprising the target molecule, such as a protein, through the nonwoven membrane of the invention such that at least a portion of the target molecule in the solution binds to the nonwoven membrane. A method for preparing a polymer-grafted and functionalized nonwoven membrane adapted for use in bioseparation processes is also provided.
METAL-ORGANIC FRAMEWORK MATERIAL SEPARATION MEMBRANE, PREPARATION METHOD THEREFOR, AND USE THEREOF
A metal-organic framework material separation membrane and a preparation method for the metal-organic framework material separation membrane are provided. The metal-organic framework material separation membrane has a base membrane and a metal-organic framework material functional layer. The metal-organic framework material functional layer comprises has an inter-embedded polyhedron structure. The preparation metal-organic framework material separation membrane includes the steps of: (1) preparing a solution containing a first organic solvent, an organic ligand, a metal compound, and an auxiliary agent; (2) subjecting a base membrane to a pretreatment, involving introducing, on the surface of the base membrane, metal atoms from the metal compound of step (1); and (3) mixing the pretreated base membrane of step (2) with the solution of step (1) to obtain a first mixture, and then heating the first mixture for reaction, so as to prepare a metal-organic framework material separation membrane.

An article that includes a functionalized copolymer and the use thereof, particularly in a process for binding biomaterials, such as in a process for separating aggregated proteins from monomeric proteins in a biological solution; wherein the article includes: a) a porous substrate; and b) a copolymer covalently attached to the porous substrate, the copolymer comprising a hydrocarbon backbone and a plurality of pendant groups attached to the hydrocarbon backbone, wherein 1) each of a first plurality of pendant groups comprises: (a) at least one acidic group or salt thereof; and (b) a spacer group that directly links the at least one acidic group or salt thereof to the hydrocarbon backbone by a chain of at least 6 catenated atoms; and 2) each of a second plurality of pendant groups comprises: (a) at least one acidic group or salt thereof; and (b) a spacer group that directly links the at least one acidic group or salt thereof to the hydrocarbon backbone by a chain of at least 6 catenated atoms; and wherein the first plurality of pendant groups are different than the second plurality of pendant groups; and wherein a mole ratio of the first plurality of pendant groups to the second plurality of pendant groups is in a range of 95:5 to 5:95.
