PRESSURIZATION OF A SUPPORT STRUCTURE FOR HANDLING OF A PERSON
The present disclosure relates to a system and method for controlling the pressurization of a support structure for handling of a person, the support structure comprising: a body comprising a row of at least two elongated sections adapted to be pressurized; a carrier plate, wherein, in a pressurized loaded condition of one or more of the elongated sections, the carrier plate is adapted to form an at least partially concavely curved front surface; a power unit adapted to pressurize one or more parts of the support structure individually via a respective valve; one or more sensors adapted to measure movements of the person and/or variations or deviations in pressurized parts of the support structure; and a controller configured to control the power unit to pressurize each part of the support structure that is adapted to be pressurized individually, based at least on sensor measurement data from the one or more sensors.
INFLATABLE MATTRESS WITH LONGITUDINALLY ORIENTED STRINGERS
A transfer mattress includes a top panel, a bottom panel, an outer stringer and an inner stringer. The top panel has a perimeter including a proximal edge and a distal edge, wherein a central longitudinal axis extends from the proximal edge to the distal edge. The bottom panel has a plurality of perforations and a perimeter including a proximal edge and a distal edge coupled to the perimeter of the top panel. The outer stringer and inner stringer each have a superior edge coupled to the top panel and an inferior edge coupled to the bottom panel and a longitudinal portion that is substantially parallel to the central longitudinal axis. The inner stringer is positioned between the central longitudinal axis and the outer stringer.
Modular turn assist apparatus and method therefor
A therapeutic support apparatus includes a user support surface extending along a longitudinal axis. The user support surface has a head section and a torso section. Each of the head section and the torso section are operable to angle relative to the longitudinal axis. An elevation unit is operable to position at least one of the head section and torso section at angles relative to the longitudinal axis. A monitor acquires data related to a user while sleeping on the user support surface. An alarm is operable to activate based on the data acquired by the monitor.
Bed bound patient turning device
A device in the shape of an arc, having a curvature of ideally 180 degrees and 12 inches or less width, can be comprised of one or more parts, engineered in such a way to facilitate the effortless turning and positioning of a bedbound patient—who is otherwise unable to maneuver or turn under his or her own strength when positioned within the arc. The arc is equipped with adjustable levers and harnesses so as to secure the patient within and prevent the device from moving when movement is not required. The device is configured with mechanical means to facilitate turning of the patient when required.
Techniques for managing patient therapy protocols
A system and a method for managing patient therapy protocols are disclosed. The system includes a patient support apparatus for supporting a patient, a first input device for use by a first caregiver, a second input device coupled for use by a second caregiver, a location system for determining a location of the first caregiver, and a therapy management system. The therapy management system receives a location of the first caregiver and a selection of a patient therapy protocol, which includes a location requirement. The therapy management system then determines whether the first caregiver location input signal satisfies the location requirement before initiating the selected patient therapy protocol or notifying the second caregiver if the location of the first caregiver does not satisfy the location requirement.
Cover Assembly
A cover assembly for a patient support including a top portion with the top portion defining a patient support surface and a sealing surface opposite the patient support surface. The cover assembly further includes a bottom portion defining a plurality of open face chambers with each open face chamber including a floor and a plurality of walls extending from the floor towards the top portion. Each open face chamber is connected to, and integral with, at least one additional open face chamber by a hinge. The sealing surface of the top portion covers the open face chambers and is coupled to the bottom portion at each hinge.
SELECTIVE AIR SEGMENT CONTROL FOR A PATIENT SUPPORT MATTRESS
A patient support mattress generally comprises one or more air segments/air cells/air sections/air bladders in a head portion of the patient support mattress and a selective air control mechanism connected to one or more adjacent individual air segments supporting a head portion of a body of a patient. The one or more adjacent individual air segments are located at the head portion of the patient support mattress. The selective air control mechanism selectively deflates and/or inflates the one or more adjacent individual air segments of the plurality of air segments.
APPARATUS AND SYSTEM FOR TURNING AND POSITIONING A PATIENT
A system for use with a bed having a frame and a supporting surface includes a sheet having a bottom surface placed above the supporting surface of the bed, a top surface, and a plurality of tether straps connected to and extending from the sheet. Each tether strap is configured for connection to the bed. The bottom surface is at least partially formed of a low friction material, and the top surface is at least partially formed of a high friction material, such that the top surface provides greater slipping resistance than the bottom surface. The tether straps include at least two pairs of tether straps, with one pair connected proximate a top edge of the sheet and another pair connected proximate a bottom edge of the sheet. The sheet may further include a sliding member on the bottom surface to assist in lateral sliding of the sheet.
HOSPITAL BED HAVING TURN ASSIST PANELS
A number of patient beds are disclosed. Some patient beds have siderails that are movable by a patient so that the patient can egress from the bed without interference from the siderails. Various caregiver control panels and patient control panels for controlling features and functions of a patient bed are also disclosed. For example, a cart with caregiver control inputs, including hand inputs on a graphical user interface (GUI) and foot inputs, is disclosed. Patient positioning and transfer devices are also disclosed. Various types of in-bed physical therapy devices are also disclosed.
SINGLE PORT LATERAL TRANSFER DEVICE AND ROTATIONAL POSITIONING DEVICE COMBINATION
An inflatable transfer mattress includes a top panel, a bottom panel having a perimeter sealingly coupled to a perimeter of the top panel to define an internal volume therebetween, a first wedge pocket coupled to an outer surface of the top panel, and a first inflatable wedge. The internal volume is configured to receive an air flow therein. The first inflatable wedge is sized and configured to be inserted into the first wedge pocket and is configured to be transitioned from a deflated state to an inflated state. The first inflatable wedge is configured to rotate a patient to a predetermined angle with respect to the top panel in the inflated state.
