DEHUMIDIFYING ELEMENT, DEHUMIDIFYING DEVICE INCLUDING DEHUMIDIFYING ELEMENT, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING DEHUMIDIFYING ELEMENT
A dehumidifying element includes a plurality of sheets that have moisture adsorption and desorption properties and that are stacked on top of each another. At least some of the sheets each have an irregular shape. The sheets each contain a hygroscopic agent having properties of a re-moistening-type glue that exhibits adherence when adsorbing moisture and that solidifies when being dried. The sheets are bonded to each other by the hygroscopic agent.

PARTICULATE WATER-ABSORBING AGENT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
[Problem] In an embodiment involving addition of a chelating agent in an upstream process of the process for production, such as the polymerization step, the residual ratio of the chelating agent in the final product, a particulate water-absorbing agent, is improved.
[Solution] A particulate water-absorbing agent having a poly(meth)acrylic acid (salt)-based water-absorbing resin as a main component, containing a chelating agent having a nitrogen atom and an inorganic reducing agent having a sulfur atom, wherein the particulate water-absorbing agent has a chelating agent ratio of 0.8 to 1.8, as calculated by the following procedures (a) to (c): (a) subjecting the particulate water-absorbing agent to a predetermined impact test; (b) sieving the particulate water-absorbing agent subjected to the impact test into a particle group 1 with a particle size of less than 300 μm and a particle group 2 with a particle size of 300 μm or more and less than 850 μm using a JIS standard sieve; and (c) quantifying a content C1 of the chelating agent present in the particle group 1 and a content C2 of the chelating agent present in the particle group 2, and then dividing the C1 by the C2.
GRAPHENE-POLYAMIDE COMPOSITE MEMBRANES AND MICROPARTICLES, METHODS OF MANUFACTURE, AND METHODS OF USE
A composite that includes graphene and an interfacially-polymerized polyamide, where the composite is in the form of a self-supporting membrane having a graphene side opposite to a polyamide side, or the composite is in the form of a microparticle comprising a graphene core and a polyamide shell, a method of manufacture of the composites by interfacial polymerization and methods of use of the composite are described.
Ethylene Oxide Sterilization Sensor Including Thermal Indicator Component and Acid-Functional Sorbent or Nonwoven Fibrous Substrate, and Method of Use
The present disclosure provides an ethylene oxide sterilization sensor and method of use. The sensor includes: at least one thermal indicator component independently selected from an electronic thermal sensor, an irreversible temperature indicator, and a heat-shrinkable film; an acid-functional porous sorbent or an acid-functional nonwoven fibrous substrate in thermal contact with the at least one thermal indicator component; and an acid having a boiling point above 120° C. and a pKa of no greater than 2.5. The acid is impregnated in or covalently attached to the porous sorbent or is covalently attached to the nonwoven fibrous substrate. The sensor includes at least one of the electronic thermal sensor, the irreversible temperature indicator, or the acid-functional nonwoven fibrous substrate.
APPARATUS, METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DIRECT AIR CAPTURE UTILIZING ELECTROMAGNETIC EXCITATION RADIATION DESORPTION OF SOLID AMINE SORBENTS TO RELEASE CARBON DIOXIDE
The present invention is directed to a method, device and system to capture carbon dioxide in air using solid amine sorbents and using a radio frequency and/or microwave generator to desorb the carbon dioxide by directly exciting the amine-carbon bond thereby significantly reducing the energy cost of releasing the carbon dioxide.
Sensing device for detecting analyte containing non-metallic element, and method thereof
The present invention provides a sensing device for detecting an analyte containing a non-metallic element such as F. A working sensor has a 3D array of voids each having a void internal wall. The void internal walls have cavities each having a cavity internal wall made from a material containing the non-metallic element. A binding of the analytes to the cavities induces a detectable variation of the optical property of the 3D array of voids. The invention exhibits numerous technical merits such as high sensitivity, high specificity, fast detection, ease of operation, low power consumption, zero chemical release, and low operation cost, among others.
SUPERABSORBENT MATERIAL ABSORBENT CAPACITY INCREASE WITH USE OF SELECTED SALTS
The present invention discloses a method for increasing absorbent capacity of a superabsorbent material (SAM) by treating the SAM with a selected salt or a combination of such salts. The selected salt(s) may interact with the polymer chain of the SAM through one or more absorbent capacity enhancement mechanisms. The absorbent capacity enhancement mechanism(s) between selected salt(s) and the SAM may lead to greater absorbent capacity of the SAM.
POLYMERIC SORBENT FIBER COMPOSITIONS INCORPORATING METAL ORGANIC FRAMEWORKS
Fiber compositions are provided that incorporate metal organic framework (MOF) materials into the polymeric matrix of the fiber. The metal organic framework materials can be incorporated by including MOF particles into a “dope” or synthesis solution used to form the fiber. The dope solution can then be used to form fibers that include 5.0 wt % or more of MOF in the resulting polymeric structural material of the fiber, relative to a weight of the fibers. In some aspects, the metal organic framework material can correspond to a MOF with selectivity for adsorption of CO.sub.2.
