Two-dimensional clay based composite phosphorus removing agent and preparation method and application thereof
The present invention belongs to the field of material preparation, and particularly relates to a two-dimensional clay based composite phosphorus removing agent and a preparation method. The two-dimensional clay based composite phosphorus removing agent provided by the present invention takes two-dimensional clay, hydroxide (such as lanthanum hydroxide, calcium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide) and urea as raw materials, and the composite phosphorus removing agent with high property is prepared by a roasting method. Through a combined physical and chemical method, phosphorus in the phosphorus-containing wastewater is effectively removed by the synergic interaction between components of the composite phosphorus removing agent. The invention overcomes the defects of large consumption and secondary pollution easily caused by using metal hydroxides, metal oxides and metal salts separately as chemical phosphorus removing agents, and simultaneously expands the application fields of the two-dimensional clay.
Graphene-based inorganic-organic hybrid materials and separation of racemic mixtures
A variety of inorganic-organic hybrid materials and various methods for preparing and using the same are described. The hybrid materials are graphene or graphitic materials populated with organic molecules and may have a variety of surface defects, pits or three-dimensional architecture, thereby increasing the surface area of the material. The hybrid materials may take the form of three dimensional graphene nanosheets (3D GNS). If the organic molecules are enantiospecific molecules, the hybrid materials can be used for chiral separation of racemic mixtures.

Method for preparing an adsorbent material comprising a step of basic mixing, and method for extracting lithium from saline solutions using said material
The present invention relates to the field of solid materials for the adsorption of lithium. In particular, the present invention relates to a new method for the preparation of a crystallized and shaped solid material, preferably in extruded form, of formula LiX.sub.x.2Al(OH).sub.3,nH.sub.2O, wherein n is between 0.01 and 10, x is 1 when X is an anion selected from among chloride, hydroxide and nitrate anions, and x is 0.5 when X is an anion selected from among sulfate and carbonate anions, comprising a boehmite precipitation step a) under specific temperature and pH conditions, at least one basic mixing shaping step, wherein the method also comprises a final hydrothermal treatment step, all to increase the lithium adsorption capacity and the kinetics of adsorption of the materials obtained, compared with the materials of the prior art when it is used in a method for lithium extraction from saline solutions.
Iron filings-based green environmental media for nutrient removal and methods of use
A method of water treatment includes flowing water that includes nitrogen and phosphorus compounds through a sorption media composition within at least one chamber of a water treatment system. The composition comprises iron filings comprising at most 5 volume (vol) % of the composition, sand particles comprising at least 80 vol % of the composition, and clay particles comprising at most 5 vol % of the composition. The iron filings, sand particles, and clay particles are mixed together. During the flowing, the clay particles attract the nitrogen and phosphorus compounds, which become absorbed onto a surface of the iron filings and the clay, resulting in a removal of the nitrogen and phosphorus compounds and the generation of reaction products. Nitrogen and phosphorus are then recovered from the reaction products.
Self-indicating colorimetric response materials for removal and sensing of toxic chemicals and narcotics
Processes, compositions, and sensors for sensing a variety of toxic chemicals based on colorimetric changes. Exemplary process for sensing a toxic chemical includes contacting a toxic chemical, or byproduct thereof, with a sorbent that includes a porous metal hydroxide or a porous mixed-metal oxide/hydroxide and a transition metal reactant suitable to react with a toxic chemical or byproduct thereof. The sorbent is contacted with the toxic chemical or byproduct thereof for a sampling time. A difference between a post-exposure colorimetric state of the sorbent and a pre-exposure colorimetric state of the sorbent is determined to thereby detect exposure to, or the presence of, the toxic chemical or byproduct thereof.
SYNERGISTIC IRON AND CLAY-BASED GREEN ENVIRONMENTAL MEDIA FOR NUTRIENT REMOVAL
A method of water treatment includes flowing water that includes nitrogen and phosphorus compounds through a sorption media composition within at least one chamber of a water treatment system. The composition comprises iron filings comprising at least 5 volume (vol) % of the composition, sand particles comprising at leak 10 vol % of the composition, and clay particles comprising at least 2 vol % of the composition.
