Porous, wet-triggered shrinkable materials
A substrate includes a double-network polymer system including a cross-linked, covalently-bonded polymer and a reversible, partially ionicly-bonded polymer, wherein the substrate has a moisture level less than or equal to 15 percent of the total weight of the substrate, wherein the substrate is porous, and wherein the substrate includes a latent retractive force. A method for manufacturing a substrate includes producing a double-network hydrogel including a cross-linked, covalently-bonded polymer and a reversible, ionicly-bonded polymer; elongating by force the double-network hydrogel in at least one direction; treating the double-network hydrogel with an organic solvent with a volatile and water-miscible organic solvent to replace a majority of water within the double-network hydrogel; evaporating the organic solvent while the double-network hydrogel is still elongated to form a substantially-dried double-network polymer system; and releasing the force to produce the substrate.
Adsorption method for at least one of cesium and strontium employing silicotitanate having sitinakite structure
The present invention provides a composition that includes a silicotitanate that has a sitinakite structure, the composition having higher cesium adsorptivity than conventional compositions. The present invention also provides a production method for the composition that includes a silicotitanate that has a sitinakite structure. The production method does not require the use of hazardous or deleterious materials, can generate a product using a compound that is easily acquired, and can use a general-purpose autoclave. Also provided is a silicotitanate composition that has higher strontium adsorptivity than the present invention. Provided is a silicotitanate composition that contains niobium and a silicotitanate that has a sitinakite structure, the composition having at least two or more diffraction peaks selected from the group consisting of 2θ=8.8°±0.5°, 2θ=10.0°±0.5°, and 2θ=29.6°±0.5°.

Adsorption structure, adsorption structure unit, and method for manufacturing same
An adsorption structure unit prevents water leakage from an adsorption structure and improves the durability of the adsorption structure and the durability of the adsorption structure unit. An adsorption structure has a filter portion having a plurality of flow paths divided by a plurality of partition walls and a plugged portion shutting a feed water inflow or outflow end of the plurality of flow paths, a water-impermeable outer tube accommodating the filter portion, and a seal material blocking a gap between the filter portion and the outer tube in at least one end portion of the filter portion. An adsorption structure unit has the adsorption structure, a housing supplying feed water from one end of the adsorption structure, and discharging the feed water from the other end, and a ring member disposed between end portions on both sides of the outer tube and an inner surface of the housing.
