The composition can be made from various different plant species and can be particularly made from agricultural crop byproducts, such as flax shives. The composition is particularly well suited for use as a remediation product for cleaning up and/or removing oily substances, such as petroleum products.

A sorbent pellet comprising a sorbent material. The sorbent pellet is suitable for use in a sorbent rotor device, for example to capture water or water vapour from a gaseous or liquid composition comprising water or water vapour. The sorbent material has a unit cell density of at least 0.8 g/cm3 and may therefore be considered to be a high density sorbent material. A plurality of sorbent pellets may provide a high capacity media for a sorbent rotor device, which may be particularly effective in dehumidification, desalination or water purification processes. Also disclosed are a cartridge for a sorbent rotor device, a sorbent rotor device for capturing water from a liquid or gaseous composition comprising water, a method of capturing water from a composition comprising water and/or water vapour, and a use of a sorbent material having a density of at least 0.8 g/cm3 in pellet form to capture water from air.

The present invention relates to granular functionalized silicas, wherein the Hg pore volume (<4 μm) is more than 0.80 ml/g, d.sub.Q3=10% is more than 400 μm, d.sub.Q3=90% is less than 3000 μm, the ratio of d.sub.50 without ultrasound exposure to d.sub.50 after 3 min of ultrasound exposure is <4.00 and the carbon content is 1.0-15.0% by weight. The inventive granular functionalized silicas can be used as a support material, especially as a support for enzymes.

Low density pet litters and methods of making and using such pet litters

Compacting expanded perlite fines in the presence of a clay and water, followed by drying, produces particles with low density, good integrity, and surprisingly higher absorption by volume than non-compacted expanded perlite or non-swelling clay. A process for the preparation of a shaped MOF, the process comprising: providing a first reactant comprising at least one metal in ionic form and a second reactant comprising at least one organic ligand capable of associating with said metal in ionic form, and optionally a solvent; allowing the first and second reactants to react to form a MOF; and forming a shaped body directly from the mixture of step b) using an extruder or continuous kneader; wherein the initial ratio of the at least one metal in ionic form to the at least one organic ligand is controlled such that shaped bodies having a minimum defined crush strength are formed without the use of an external binder or lubricant.
