FILTER SYSTEM
A filter system comprises a hollow fiber membrane filter having pores; and an electrostatic adsorption filter partially or wholly having positive charges to be ion adsorbed with nanoparticles of negative charges by an electrostatic attraction, the nanoparticles which exist in the water, and the electrostatic adsorption filter configured to remove in advance the nanoparticles from the water to be supplied to the hollow fiber membrane filter, to prevent a water passing amount of the hollow fiber membrane filter from being rapidly reduced. According to the present invention, the viruses existing in raw water may be removed in accordance with a size exclusion mechanism of the hollow fiber membrane filter, and the nanoparticles, which cause the reduction of the water passing amount of the hollow fiber membrane filter, may be removed using the electrostatic adsorption filter.
Method and system of enhancing removal of toxic anions and organic solutes in sorbent dialysis
A method of sorbent dialysis is provided for enhanced removal of uremic toxins, such as toxic anions and/or organic solutes, from spent dialysate. More highly adsorbable zirconium polymeric complexes of these anions and/or organic solutes can be initially formed in spent dialysate by treatment with zirconium salt solution or other zirconium cation source, and then removed with adsorbent to provide purified or regenerated dialysate. Sorbent dialysis systems for detoxifying spent dialysate containing toxic anions and organic solutes are also provided.

PROCESS FOR PREPARING AN ADSORBENT MATERIAL IN THE ABSENCE OF BINDER COMPRISING A HYDROTHERMAL TREATMENT STEP AND PROCESS FOR EXTRACTING LITHIUM FROM SALINE USING SAID MATERIAL
A method for preparing a crystallized solid material of formula LiCl.2Al(OH).sub.3.nH.sub.2O with n being comprised between 0.01 and 10, includes mixing in an aqueous medium, at least one source of alumina and at least one source of lithium in order to obtain a suspension, filtering the resulting suspension obtained for obtaining a slurry, followed by drying the obtained slurry and shaping the dried slurry after the drying to obtain a shaped solid material. The shaping is carried out in absence of a binder followed by drying and a hydrothermal treatment to obtain the shaped crystallized solid material of formula LiCl.2Al(OH).sub.3.nH.sub.2O. A method for extracting lithium from saline solutions uses the thereby prepared material.
ION EXCHANGE COLUMN CONFIGURED TO REDUCE INTERNAL LEVELS OF RADIOLYTIC HYDROGEN GAS
An ion exchange system includes one or more strategies to reduce the amount of hydrogen gas inside an ion exchange column when the column is offline or disposed of. The ion exchange system comprises an ion exchange column including a housing and ion exchange media positioned in the housing. The ion exchange column can include one or more of the following: (1) an oxide material that limits the production of hydrogen gas from radiolysis, (2) a hydrogen scavenging material that removes or scavenges hydrogen gas inside the column, and (3) a hydrogen catalytic material that catalyzes the reaction of hydrogen and oxygen inside the column.
