Method and apparatus for improving mobility in patients affected by a neurodegenerative disease, through controlled and localized mechanical stimulation of the foot, at the tip of the big toe and the lower big toe metatarsal joint. Described herein is an apparatus comprising stimulators for the right and left foot and it attains such mechanical stimulation according to predetermined intensity parameters, stimulation sequence, duration and cyclical repetition. Mobility improvement was observed in particular in patients affected by Parkinson's disease.

System for dynamically adjusting treatment angle under tension to accommodate variations in spinal morphology

A system for dynamically adjusting treatment angle under tension to accommodate variations in spinal morphology during spinal decompression therapy is provided. It provides a tensioning device including a patient-positioning means, a tension-producing actuator, a positioning device, a patient interface device, a control system and a display. The control system with feedback on the resultant tension vector applied to patient spine operationally configured to allow for adjustment of either tension producing actuator position, patient position, or both while applying tension to the patient spine during non-therapeutic tension levels. The control system automatically adjusts tension producing actuator work levels such that the resultant tension vector magnitude remains ideally constant during adjustment of resultant tension vector angle, reducing the risk of eliciting paraspinal muscle contraction due to changes in resultant tension vector magnitude.

MASSAGE APPARATUS COMPRISING A STACK OF INFLATABLE AND DEFLATABLE CELLS INCLINED AND OVERLAPPING ONE ANOTHER
20170224577 · 2017-08-10 ·

A pressotherapy apparatus including a device for forming a treatment enclosure to be placed around a section of the body. The device has inflatable and deflatable cells having an upper membrane and a lower membrane which are connected together. The cells are supported by an external wall opposite a body surface of the device. The cells are disposed in a stack between two end cells. The cells between the end cells are stacked by overlapping in a position inclined between a high-end near to the external wall and a low end near to the body surface. The cells of the stack have an active portion of the upper membrane extending from the low end not covered by the lower membrane of an adjacent cell above.

Compression garment

A graduated compression garment is disclosed that includes a plurality of longitudinal fuzzy wales arranged to form a fabric with a plurality of transverse elastomeric threads under variable tension connecting the adjacent longitudinal fuzzy wales to deliver a first level of elastic compression distally on a limb and a gradually decreasing level of elastic compression as the limb increases in diameter proximally.

Provide is a health appliance and a method using the same which achieve active and appropriate assistance of bending of a knee joint. The health appliance, which allows a user lying or seated to move their knee joint while supporting the knee joint, includes a support 1 which is a triangular prism having one side surfaces as a bottom surface 11, and an aid 2 mounted on the leg below the knee and can be pulled by the user. The support 1 has a width W at which one knee is supported, and has a cross section forming a triangle with a base corresponding to one side surface 11 and an acute diagonal angle θ1. When sandwiched under the user's knee, the base angle θ2 adjacent to the toe is larger than the diagonal angle θ1 and smaller than the base angle θ3 adjacent to the thigh.

Vibration and heat generation apparatus for use with compression wraps

A system applies compression, vibration and heat to a body part of a person. The system includes a portable vibration and heat generation apparatus having a flexible support platform and a bag-like enclosure extending from the support platform. A cylindrical control unit is mounted to the support platform and extends perpendicularly from the support platform. The control unit has a diameter of between 50 millimeters and 100 millimeters. The control unit houses electronic circuitry and at least one battery. Four vibration pods extend from the support platform into the bag-like structure. The bag-like structure also houses a heat generation unit. The control unit extends through a circular bore in a compression wrap. The compression wrap is securable to a body part with a distal wall of the bag-like enclosure against the body part. The system selectively applies vibration, heat or a combination of vibration and heat to the body part.

Enhanced biomechanical stimulation device

A biomechanical stimulation device is presented. The biomechanical stimulation device comprises a base that supports an adjustable height arm and an easily removable drum connected to the arm. The drum is driven by a motor to provide an elliptical stimulation motion. An anti-rotation device prevents rotation, but allows orbital translation of drum. The drum may connect to the arm at a single attachment point. The arm 20 may be pivotally attached to the base and selectively movable to a desired position. A pair of struts may support the arm to assist in positioning the arm. The struts may be locked to prevent movement of the arm, or unlocked by a release button to allow selective positioning of the arm. The biomechanical stimulation device may further include a hand controller and other peripheral devices to provides a convenient interface for controlling the speed and run time of the biomechanical stimulation device.

ACTIVE RECORERY SYSTEM AND METHOD HAVING CAPACITIVE PROXIMITY SENSOR

A shoe has a sole having a capacitive sensor and a force actuating mechanism, and a wireless receiver. The capacitive sensor can detect and sense whether or not there is a foot is in the shoe. The force actuating mechanism can operate like a piston in an inactive mode (first position) and active mode (second position), wherein the active mode extends the force actuating mechanism's extending mechanism from first position to second position. The wireless receiver can retrieve any information in regards to geodetic locations from the capacitive sensor based on the capacitance signal.
