Testing for particulates
A method is provided for testing for presence of a particulate selected from the group consisting of: a microorganism, a fungus, a bacteria, a spore, a virus, a mite, a biological cell, a biological antigen, a protein, a protein antigen, and a carbohydrate antigen. The method includes (a) collecting, in a tube (22), fluid that potentially contains the particulate, (b) using a plunger (24) to push the fluid through a filter (26) disposed at a distal portion of the tube or at a distal end of the plunger, and subsequently, (c) while the filter is inside the tube, ascertaining if any of the particulate was trapped by the filter by applying a particulate-presence-testing-facilitation solution to the filter. Other embodiments are also described.
Extraction system for testing microbial contamination of tissue products
An extraction system for testing microbial contamination includes a biocompatible outer vessel that has a side wall and a biocompatible suspension system that is positionable within an interior of the biocompatible outer vessel. The biocompatible suspension system includes a horizontal member on which a sample may be supported and a securement mechanism that is engagable with the side wall of the biocompatible outer vessel to maintain the suspension system at a desired position within the biocompatible outer vessel.
System and method for automated single cell processing
A system and method for automated single cell capture and processing is described, where the system includes a deck supporting and positioning a set of sample processing elements; a gantry for actuating tools for interactions with the set of sample processing elements supported by the deck; and a base supporting various processing subsystems and a control subsystems in communication with the processing subsystems. The system can automatically execute workflows associated with single cell processing, including mRNA capture, cDNA synthesis, protein-associated assays, and library preparation, for next generation sequencing.
Multiple-use sensor assembly for body fluids
The present invention relates to a sensor assembly (1) for body fluids. The sensor assembly (1) comprises: a measurement chamber (2) extending in an axial direction from an inlet end (3) to an outlet end (4), the measurement chamber having a transverse cross-section with side walls (5, 6) defining a chamber width in a horizontal direction, and with top and bottom walls (8, 7) defining a chamber height in a vertical direction, each of the side walls (5, 6), top wall (8) and bottom wall (7) having a respective wall wettability for aqueous solutions; a first sensor (10a-h) adapted to measure a first parameter of body fluids, the first sensor (10 a-h) having a first sensor surface (11a-h) exposed to the inside of the measurement chamber at a first axial position, the first sensor surface (11a-h) having a first wettability for aqueous solutions; and a second sensor (20) adapted to measure a second parameter of body fluids, the second sensor (20) having a second sensor surface (21) exposed to the inside of the measurement chamber (2) at a second axial position upstream or downstream from the first axial position, the second sensor surface (21) having a second wettability for aqueous solutions higher than the first wettability. At the second axial position, the chamber width exceeds the width of the second sensor surface (21), and the measurement chamber has a widening (22) in a horizontal direction as compared to the first axial position.
Hand-held applicator
A hand-held applicator (10) for collecting, mixing, diluting and discharging a sample liquid, comprising a main body (20) having an inlet-aperture (24), an outlet-aperture (26) and a chamber (22) for storing a liquid solution, wherein the chamber is connected to the inlet-aperture and the outlet-aperture, a lid (12) for covering the inlet-aperture and a tube (40), moveably supported in the inlet-aperture when the lid is covering the upper portion of the main body, wherein the tube (40) is moveable between a predetermined position outside the chamber and a position, in which the tube is at least partly located in the chamber.
