Component of a device, a device, and a method for purifying and testing biomolecules from biological samples
The present disclosure relates to, inter alia, an easy-to-operate, fully closed component, which can be part of an instrument, for purification of biomolecules from biological samples, and subsequent transfer, and testing of the biomolecules, as well as an instrument comprising the component, and a method for using the component.
System to control the local humidity of a sample during manipulation under a microscope and subsequent transfer to an analytical instrument
An adaptor to help control local humidity of a sample includes a delivery port having a first side and a second side, opposite the first side. The first side includes an opening that is to be connected to a fluid source. The second side includes a sidewall. A platform extends from the sidewall. A vial holder is connected to the sidewall. A portion of the sidewall is absent above the platform to allow manipulation of the sample.
Circuit for biological liquid comprising a pinch valve
The invention concerns a circuit comprising a bag (11) comprising two flexible films (45, 46) and a press (10) comprising a first (14) and a second (13) shell clamping the bag to form pipes having a passage and edges (41); the first shell comprising a valve (20) which comprises a movable member (24) and a pad (31), which pad has a resting configuration in which a second face (33) of the pad is concave and locally delimits a channel (18) and a pinching configuration in which the second face (33) is convex; said movable member and said pad being configured so that, when said valve is in closed position and said pad in pinching configuration, said passage is pinched by said movable member against said second shell channel and said edges (41) are pinched flat by said movable member against said second shell (13).
Pump-less method and apparatus for solvent extraction from a sample
Apparatus for extracting organic analytes from a sample comprising a first compressed gas source connected to valving and a sample extraction cell connected to the valving. A pressure regulator is connected to the extraction cell outlet to the pressure regulator. The pressure regulator blocks fluid flow when the pressure at the pressure regulator inlet is below a predetermined pressure and permits fluid flow when above said predetermined pressure. The apparatus is free of operative association with a mechanical pump or with a compressed gas source other than the compressed gas source. An extraction method for using the above apparatus is described.
Method and apparatus for effecting automated movement of a magnet in an instrument for performing a magnetic separation procedure
Methods, systems, and apparatus are provided for automated isolation of selected analytes, to which magnetically-responsive solid supports are bound, from other components of a sample. An apparatus for performing an automated magnetic separation procedure includes a mechanism for effecting linear movement of a magnet between operative and non-operative positions with respect to a receptacle device. A receptacle holding station within which a receptacle device may be temporarily stored prior to moving the receptacle to the apparatus for performing magnetic separation includes magnets for applying a magnetic field to the receptacle device held therein, thereby drawing at least a portion of the magnetically-responsive solid supports out of suspension before the receptacle device is moved to the magnetic separation station. An automated receptacle transport mechanism moves the receptacle devices between the apparatus for performing magnetic separation and the receptacle holding station.
Sample probe for dissolution testing and the like
In one embodiment, a sample probe has a cap and a base, wherein the cap includes a grip portion and a projection portion. The projection portion fits within a hollow portion of a filter such that the filter is disposed on the outside of the projection portion and the filter and the cap form a cap assemblage. The base comprises a base recess that receives a portion of the cap assemblage including the filter. The cap and base include corresponding media transfer regions adjacent and connected to the filter that reduces flow resistance and chances of blockage and/or contamination during dissolution-testing sampling using the sample probe.
Segment Sampler
A tube segment sampler system (10) for withdrawing a fluid sample from a tube segment (100), the sampler (10) having a first tube piercing member (28) for piercing the tube segment at a first location and a second tube piercing member (28) for piercing the tube segment at a second location so as to allow air to be drawn into the tube segment (100) through one of the openings made by one of the piercing members (28) whilst fluid is withdrawn through the other of the openings.
CONNECTOR FOR FLUID CHROMATOGRAPHY
The invention generally relates to a connector for fluid chromatography, such as gas chromatography and liquid chromatography, having a female assembly including a receiving member being designed and configured to receive, and releasably interlock with, a male assembly. The connector is particularly suited for high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) applications.
CLOSED FLUID RECEIVING AND SAMPLING CONTAINER
A closed fluid receiving and sampling container that enables transfer of valuable reaction liquid to a receptacle without risking loss of sterility. The sampling container has a dip tube subassembly with a shorter inlet tube bent towards the wall of the receptacle to prevent or reduce foaming, and a longer outlet tube used to drain the waste liquid once the magnetic beads are trapped by the magnet. The dip tube subassembly is injection molded in one piece and provides a sealed cap also with a vent tube therethrough to enable filling and draining the receptacle without removing the cap, thus keeping the process aseptic. The sampling container is especially useful in the context of magnetic bead separation processes.
BIOINERT SAMPLING NEEDLE
A sampling needle is provided for piercing a septum of a vial containing a sample and aspirating the sample from the vial. The needle may include: a tubular core having a lumen extending therethrough and a piercing end, wherein the tubular core is formed of a bioinert material; a hollow support encircling the tubular core with the piercing end extending outwardly from the support, wherein the support is formed of a rigid material; and a bioinert coating covering a portion of the support adjacent the piercing end, wherein the tubular core and the covering isolates the support from the sample.
