Multilayer microfluidic probe head with immersion channels and fabrication thereof
The invention is directed to a microfluidic probe head (100) with a base layer (120) comprising: at least two processing liquid microchannel (123, 124) in fluid communication with a processing liquid aperture (121, 122) on a face of the base layer; and an immersion liquid microchannel (223, 224) in fluid communication with a immersion liquid aperture (221, 222) on a face of the base layer, wherein the microfluidic probe head is configured to allow, in operation, processing liquid provided through the processing liquid aperture to merge into immersion liquid provided through the immersion liquid aperture. An additional layer can be provided to close the microchannels. Such a multilayered head is compact and easier to fabricate than heads made with unitary construction. The head can further be interfaced with tubing using e.g. a standard fitting for tubing port.
Fluidic manifold cartridge system
A fluidic manifold cartridge includes a plurality of source fluid inlets and fluid outlets. A plurality of fluid input flow channels are provided. Each fluid inlet is in fluid communication with a fluid input flow channel. Each fluid input flow channel directs fluid from the fluid inlet past a plurality of valves. A plurality of fluid output flow channels are in fluid communication with a fluid outlets. Each valve includes a valve seat, a portion of membrane, and a control fluid opening. Each valve has an open and closed condition. The valve in the open condition directs fluid from a fluid input flow channel to a fluid output flow channel. The control fluid opening directs control fluid to move the membrane so as to change the valve between the open and closed conditions. Systems and methods for fluidic manifold are also disclosed.
Microfluidic device and method thereof
A microfluidic device includes a platform with a microstructure. The microstructure include a primary channel and a plurality of chambers that open to the primary channel to enable a sample fluid that is loaded into the device via the primary channel to flow into the chambers. Each chamber has a volume that is less than tens of nanoliters and is connected by a vent to a secondary channel of the microstructure. A width of the vent is configured to enable a gas to escape from the chamber to the secondary channel while inhibiting flow of the sample fluid from the chamber into the secondary channel.
Microfluidic device
The present disclosure teaches an apparatus and a method for providing one or more substance liquids to a microfluidic channel network (30). The microfluidic apparatus includes valves for switching the one or more substance liquids to a microfluidic channel network (30). The apparatus can be used to generate a sequence of the one or more substance liquids as individual droplets in an immiscible separation liquid wherein individual ones of the sequence of droplets are located between the separation liquid.
Microfluidic device for analyzing gene expression
A microfluidic device is disclosed which comprises: (i) at least one reaction unit having a test chamber connected to at least one microchannel, wherein a surface of at least a portion of said reaction unit is attached to an isolated nucleic acid; and (ii) a flow-through channel having at least one inlet port and at least one outlet port, said flow-through channel and said microchannel being of dimensions to allow reactant diffusion to and from said reaction unit, wherein the diffusion time of said reactant along the microchannel is shorter than the flow time along the microchannel.
MICROFLUIDIC DEVICES FOR DENTAL APPLICATIONS
Disclosed is a microfluidic device having a channel a chamber in fluid communication with the channel. The chamber is sized to contain dental sample that is form a semipermeable barrier through which fluid from the channel is deliverable to the dental sample.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IMMUNE ACTIVITY DETERMINATION
A system and method for determining a trajectory parameter of particles, comprising receiving a plurality of particles at a microfluidic channel, applying a force to each particle of the microfluidic channel, acquiring a dataset of each particle, measuring a trajectory of the particle, and determining a trajectory parameter of the particles.
Microfluidic device
The present disclosure teaches an apparatus and a method for providing one or more substance liquids to a microfluidic channel network. The microfluidic apparatus includes valves for switching the one or more substance liquids to a microfluidic channel network. The apparatus can be used to generate a sequence of the one or more substance liquids as individual droplets in an immiscible separation liquid wherein individual ones of the sequence of droplets are located between the separation liquid.
Discrete Microenvironment Chamber
The present invention provides a discrete microenvironment chamber (DIMIC) configured to accurately mimics the microenvironment of poorly perfused tissue. In one embodiment, the DIMIC of the present invention is further designed to allow the extraction of cells and media from different local environments for any type of biochemical analysis.
MICROFLUIDIC DEVICES WITH CAPILLARY DILUTORS
An embodiment for a microfluidic device is provided. The device comprises two areas, arranged side-by-side, and a trigger channel. They include a first area, which is delimited by a first liquid pinning barrier, and a second area, which is delimited by a second liquid pinning barrier. The latter extends parallel to the first liquid pinning barrier to delimit a corridor. The trigger channel extends through the corridor between the two areas. In addition, the trigger channel connects the first liquid pinning barrier with the second liquid pinning barrier, allowing a first liquid pinned at the first liquid pinning barrier and a second liquid pinned at the second liquid pinning barrier to be contacted, each, by a reverse flow of the second liquid in the trigger channel and thereby start mixing at a level of the corridor, in operation. The invention is further directed to related methods of operation.
