09931643 · 2018-04-03 · ·

A decanter centrifuge includes a rotatable bowl extending along a centrifuge axis of rotation, and a rotatable scroll conveyor with hub mounted coaxially within the bowl. A feed pipe passes centrally within the hub and leads into a feed chamber within the hub. A plurality of circumferentially spaced apart nozzles extend radially outward from a round internal wall of the feed chamber to the outside surface of the hub and extend radially inward beyond the internal wall of the feed chamber. A plurality of discrete accelerator inserts are mounted on the internal wall of the feed chamber, wherein each insert is adjacently mounted between two nozzles and each nozzle is circumferentially fixed by abutment with the radially inward extensions of two of the spaced apart nozzles.

Distributor for a scroll screen centrifugal separator

A scroll screen centrifugal separator includes a distributor that is configured to receive slurry received from a feed conduit. The distributor is configured to deflect the received slurry to a screen of the scroll screen centrifugal separator. In some embodiments, the distributor may include a distributor that has a flat surface encircled by a lip or having one or more lips positioned on the flat surface, an inclined surface, or a declined surface that faces the mouth of the feed conduit. In other embodiments, the distributor may include a plurality of dam members for defining passageways through which slurry is passable through the distributor prior to being ejected to a screen of the separator. In other embodiments, the distributor may include a distributor plate that has a plurality of radial arms attached thereto that are configured to direct slurry to the basket with a rotational velocity.

Decanter centrifuges and associated acceleration pipes and methods

Decanter centrifuges and associated acceleration pipes and methods are provided. In accordance with an example, an acceleration pipe for use with a decanter centrifuge including a feed pipe and a screw conveyor having an acceleration chamber includes an acceleration pipe body adapted to be coupled to and rotate with the screw conveyor. The acceleration pipe body includes an acceleration pipe inlet and an acceleration pipe outlet. The acceleration pipe body defines an acceleration pipe flow path extending between the acceleration pipe inlet and the acceleration pipe outlet. The acceleration pipe body is adapted to receive a suspension at the acceleration pipe inlet from the feed pipe and to rotate the suspension, based on a corresponding rotation of the screw conveyor, prior to the suspension exiting the acceleration pipe outlet and being received by the acceleration chamber of the screw conveyor.

A solid bowl screw centrifuge has a feed pipe with a diameter initially increasing in the axial direction towards in the direction of flow to form a first feed pipe section in which a centrifugal pre-separation of a part of the solid phase from the suspension occurs. A first portion with a higher solids content compared to the suspension is introduced by a first outlet into the centrifugal chamber in the radial direction. A second feed pipe section adjoins the first feed pipe section axially in the direction of flow, through which the remaining second portion of the suspension that is not discharged through the first outlet and has a lower solids content compared with the suspension is guided further axially through the feed pipe. The remaining second portion of the suspension is introduced into the centrifugal chamber in the radial direction via a second outlet.

Accelerators and conveyor bodies for a decanter centrifuge are discussed. A decanter centrifuge may have a bowl forming a sedimentation chamber with a cake discharge and a centrate discharge; a screw conveyor within the sedimentation chamber, the screw conveyor having a conveyor body and a flight, the conveyor body defining a feed chamber; and an accelerator within the feed chamber for increasing the angular velocity of a feed mixture prior to entering the sedimentation chamber, the accelerator comprising an impeller with plural vanes, the plural vanes being releasably mounted to the conveyor body and sized to pass through an axial end of the conveyor body.
