Applying cold spray erosion protection to an airfoil
Systems and methods are provided for applying cold spray erosion protection to an airfoil. One embodiment is a method for applying an abrasion coating to a fiber-reinforced composite substrate. The method includes applying a bond layer to the fiber-reinforced composite substrate by emitting, with a supersonic nozzle of a High Pressure Cold Spray (HPCS) system, a first gas stream including a first metal powder at a first speed below supersonic speed. The method further includes applying a cold spray deposit layer to the bond layer by emitting, with the supersonic nozzle, a second gas stream including a second metal powder at a second speed above supersonic speed.
Spray plume position feedback for robotic motion to optimize coating quality, efficiency, and repeatability
A thermal spray system may include a thermal spray torch configured to produce an emission of material, at least one camera configured to capture an image of the emission of material emitted by the thermal spray torch, a diagnostic device communicatively coupled to the at least one camera, and a controller communicatively coupled to the diagnostic device. The camera may be configured to transmit an image of the emission of material to a diagnostic device that may be configured to determine a characteristic of the emission of material based on the image. The diagnostic device may transmit the characteristic to a controller that may control a position of the thermal spray torch based on the characteristic.

Methods for manufacturing a solid state ionic conductive membrane on a macro porous support scaffold
A method for manufacturing a solid state ionic conductive membrane includes forming a solid state ionic conductive membrane on a support scaffold and treating the support scaffold to be macro porous.
Solvent-free processing of lithium lanthanum zirconium oxide coated-cathodes
A dry process for coating Ni-rich cathode powder with cubic LLZO powder prepared by flame spray pyrolysis.
INCREASED DEPOSITION EFFICIENCY VIA DUAL REACTOR SYSTEM
A method for depositing Parylene onto a substrate includes operating a first pyrolysis chamber at a first set of parameters to cause cracking of dimers into monomers at the first set of parameters and operating a second pyrolysis chamber at a second set of parameters to cause cracking of dimers into monomers at the second set of parameters. The method includes mixing the monomers at the first set of parameters with monomers at the second set of parameters together and polymerizing the mixture as a protective coating.
Methods for protecting oilfield operational components from damage from fluid flow
Coating compositions for coating an oilfield operational component, and related methods, may include in some aspects a coating composition having a trifunctional silane, a silanol, and a filler. The coating composition may be applied to a surface of the oilfield operational component that is configured to be exposed to a fluid. The coating composition may be applied to at least partially cover or coat the surface. The coating composition may be configured to chemically bond with a cured primer composition that includes an epoxy.
