Durable hydrophilic-super-hydrophobic bipolar self-cleaning composite film, and preparation method therefor

The present invention belongs to the field of super-hydrophobic surface technology, and discloses a durable hydrophilic-super-hydrophobic bipolar self-cleaning composite film and a preparation method therefor. The preparation method is as follows: adding an epoxy silane coupling agent into an organic solvent; after stirring and mixing well, adding an amine curing agent and distilled water to the mixture; stirring and adding micron-sized solid particles and hydrophobic nano silicon dioxide particles; continuing stirring to obtain a hydrophilic layer solution; adding a hydrophobic modifier and a hydrophilic nano silicon dioxide particles into the solvent to obtain a hydrophobic layer solution; coating a pretreated substrate surface with the hydrophilic layer solution, and performing heating treatment at 60° C. to 80° C. for 10-50 min; then coating the surface with the hydrophobic layer solution, and performing heating treatment at 100° C. to 140° C. for 50-90 min to obtain the durable hydrophilic-super-hydrophobic bipolar self-cleaning composite film. The preparation method of the present invention is simple, and the super-hydrophobic surface of the obtained composite film has strong mechanical durability and a good industrial application prospect.

Surface activation for sealant adhesion on surfaces

In at least one example, a composition for surface activation of an aerospace vehicle consists essentially of an organic solvent present in an amount from about 95 to about 99.5 volume percent, a transition metal alkoxide present in an amount from about 0.5 to about 5 volume percent, and a water content in an amount from about 0 to about 5 volume percent. In at least one example, a method of sealing a surface of an aerospace vehicle includes applying the composition to a surface of an aerospace vehicle. The composition applied to the surface is dried to form a transition metal oxide from the transition metal alkoxide. Excess of the transition metal oxide is removed from the surface. A sealant is applied over a remaining layer of the transition metal oxide on the surface.

COATING COMPOSITIONS

A coating composition can include water and polyurethane particles including sulfonated- or carboxylated-diamine groups, isocyanate-generated amine groups, and polyalkylene oxide side-chains.

Edge build and edge blister performance of coil coatings

A liquid polymeric coating composition that upon application to a substrate, such as a coil substrate, preferably does not exhibit the edge build and edge blistering that commonly occurs with conventional liquid polymeric coating compositions. In some embodiments, the liquid polymeric coating composition is modified by tailoring the surface tension, the openness of the coating composition as indicated by the modulus of elasticity, or a combination thereof to reduce edge build and edge blistering. The modified liquid polymeric composition may be applied to a surface of the substrate and cured to form a film coating that reduces or alleviates commonly encountered edge defects in conventional liquid polymeric coating compositions, such as edge build and edge blistering, which may avoid the need for edge trimming of the coated substrate. The coated coil substrate is well suited for forming food or beverage containers or portions thereof.
