Assistance apparatus, assistance method, and recording medium
An assistance apparatus includes a first wire and a second wire that couple an upper-body belt and a left knee belt to each other, respectively, a third wire and a fourth wire that couple the upper-body belt and a right knee belt to each other, respectively, and a motor. When assistance is stopped, the motor is configured to reduce tension of the first wire during a first stop period starting in a boundary period in a first period and ending in a start period of a second period, generate no tension in the second wire during the second period, reduce tension of the third wire during a second stop period starting in a boundary period in a third period and ending in a start period of a fourth period, and generate no tension in the fourth wire during the fourth period.
Assistance apparatus, assistance method, and recording medium
An assistance apparatus includes a first wire and a second wire that couple an upper-body belt and a left knee belt to each other on or above a front part and back part of the body of a user, respectively, a third wire and a fourth wire that couple the upper-body belt and a right knee belt to each other on or above the front part and back part of the body of the user, respectively, a motor, a left sensor on the left hand of the user, and a right sensor on the right hand of the user. When a force is applied to the left sensor and no force is applied to the right sensor, the motor makes the tension of the second wire and the third wire greater than the tension of the first wire and the fourth wire. When a force is applied to the right sensor and no force is applied to the left sensor, the motor makes the tension of the first wire and the fourth wire greater than the tension of the second wire and the third wire.
Assistance apparatus, assistance method, and recording medium
An assistance apparatus includes wires, each of which couples an upper-body belt and one of left and right knee belts to each other, and a motor. When the assistance apparatus assists a user in walking backward while carrying an object, the motor generates, in a gait phase of a left leg, a tension greater than or equal to a second threshold value in a second wire during a fifth period other than a first period during which a tension greater than or equal to a first threshold value is generated, and a tension less than the second threshold value in a first wire during a sixth period other than a second period during which a tension greater than or equal to the first threshold value is generated, and generates, in a gait phase of a right leg, a tension greater than or equal to the second threshold value in a fourth wire during a seventh period other than a third period during which a tension greater than or equal to the first threshold value is generated, and a tension less than the second threshold value in a third wire during an eighth period other than a fourth period during which a tension greater than or equal to the first threshold value is generated.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SYNCHRONIZING EXTERNAL COMPRESSION OF A LIMB FOR INCREASED BLOOD FLOW
Embodiments relate to devices, systems and methods of assisting blood flow return to the heart from a limb. The device comprising a wearable garment (115) and a compression apparatus (110) embedded in the garment (115) for applying an external compression according to a compression sequence to a muscle of a limb of a user based on real-time measurements regarding a cardiac cycle having a diastolic phase and systolic of the user and real-time measurements of muscle activity. The compression sequence is synchronized to comment when both the local blood flow at the limb is in the diastolic phase and the muscle is in a non-contracted state.
SOFT EXOSUIT FOR ASSISTANCE WITH HUMAN MOTION
In one aspect, a motion control system includes an actuator having an actuation member, the actuation member having a proximal end attached to the actuator on a first side of a joint and a distal end attached to an anchor element attachment point on a second side of the joint. A first sensor is configured to output signals defining a gait cycle and a second sensor is configured to output signals representing a tensile force in the at least one actuation member. A controller receives the output signals from the first and second sensors and, responsive thereto, automatically actuates the actuator, during a first portion of the gait cycle, to apply a force greater than a predetermined threshold tensile force to the anchor element attachment point via the actuation member to generate a beneficial moment about the joint and to automatically actuate the actuator, during at least a second portion of the gait cycle, to reduce a tensile force at the anchor element attachment point to a level at or below the predetermined threshold tensile force to avoid generating a detrimental moment about the joint.
System and method for determining user's deep vein thrombosis prevention and diagnosis system utilization compliance
A system and method determines a user's compliance with a prescribed therapeutic pneumatic compression treatment by applying external pressure to a body limb using a pneumatic compression sleeve having a pneumatically fillable cell; measuring pneumatic pressure within the pneumatically fillable cell; generating a pressure signal corresponding to the measured pneumatic pressure; determining biological events associated with the user based upon the pressure signal; generating a positive detection signal for each determined biological event associated with the user; and determining a user's compliance with a prescribed therapeutic pneumatic compression treatment when a predetermined number of positive detection signals have been generated within a predetermined time interval.
Systems and methods for assistive exosuit system
Exosuit systems and methods according to various embodiments are described herein. The exosuit system can be a suit that is worn by a wearer on the outside of his or her body. It may be worn under the wearer's normal clothing, over their clothing, between layers of clothing, or may be the wearer's primary clothing itself. The exosuit may be assistive, as it physically assists the wearer in performing particular activities, or can provide other functionality such as communication to the wearer through physical expressions to the body, engagement of the environment, or capturing of information from the wearer.
