Method for treating substrates with an aqueous liquid medium exposed to UV-radiation

Methods for treating substrates are described. The methods comprise the steps of flowing an aqueous liquid medium through a flow channel and at least one outlet slit onto a substrate to be treated and exposing the aqueous liquid medium to UV-radiation of a specific wavelength at least in a portion of the flow channel immediately adjacent the at least one outlet slit and after the aqueous liquid medium has flown through the outlet opening towards the substrate and thus prior to and while applying the aqueous liquid medium to the surface of the substrate to be treated. In one method, the electrical conductance of the aqueous liquid medium is adjusted to be in the range of 20 to 2000 μS, by the addition of an additive to the aqueous liquid medium, the aqueous liquid medium prior to the addition of the additive having an electrical conductivity below 20 μS, prior to or while exposing the same to the UV-radiation. Additionally, the pH of the aqueous liquid medium may be adjusted to a range of 8 to 11 or 3 to 6 prior to or while exposing the same to the UV-radiation. The adjustments may lead to a shift in an equilibrium of reactive species generated in the aqueous liquid medium by the UV-radiation towards preferred species.

ASSESSING AT LEAST ONE STRUCTURAL FEATURE OF AN ANTI-BIOFOULING ARRANGEMENT

In an anti-biofouling context, an anti-biofouling system (20) is provided, which is configured to emit anti-biofouling light in an activated state thereof and to be applied to an object (10). Further, the anti-biofouling system (20) comprises a sensor system (30) that is configured to obtain measurement data relating to at least one structural feature of an anti-biofouling arrangement (1) including both the anti-biofouling system (20) and the object (10) in an actual case of the anti-biofouling system (20) being in place on the object (10). By having the sensor system (30) as mentioned in the anti-biofouling system (20), it is achieved that one or more structural aspects of the anti-biofouling arrangement (1) may be checked/monitored without a need for providing separate means for fulfilling such functionality.

UV LIGHT DISINFECTION AND CLEANING OF NARROW TUBE LUMENS
20220175990 · 2022-06-09 ·

Systems and methods for cleaning and disinfecting contaminated tube lumens are described herein. One system includes an ultraviolet light source and a sterile fluid reservoir fluidly coupled to a liquid light guide. The system is configured to allow simultaneous access and propagation of ultraviolet light and fluid in a tube having a lumen to be cleaned and disinfected. The light guide can be moved inside the tube and simultaneously emit ultraviolet light through its walls and at its distal end into the interior of the contaminated tube. A flush of sterile fluid from an open end of the liquid light guide removes debris and micro-organism detached from the inner surface during light exposure. The sterile fluid can be a high refractive index ionic solution promoting light propagation.
