METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR UPDATING PERSONALIZED GAIT POLICY
A walking assistance device may be controlled using a personalized gait policy. A preset event is detected during a current gait cycle based on state information associated with a motion of the walking assistance device, a reward value of state information associated with the motion is evaluated at a point in time at which the event is detected, and a personalized gait policy is updated based on state information associated with the motion when updating of the personalized gait policy is determined to be required based on the reward value.
Diagnosing and treating movement disorders
A system for obtaining and analyzing data for overall joint motion from a plurality of joints of a subject experiencing a movement disorder involves a plurality of kinematic sensors configured to be placed on a body of a subject experiencing a movement disorder proximal a plurality of joints of the subject. The kinematic sensors are selected to measure overall joint motion with sufficient degrees of freedom for individual joints so that data collected by the sensors can be deconstructed into multiple degrees of freedom for individual joints and analyzed to provide amplitude of the movements caused by the movement disorder and/or relative contributions from and/or directional bias for each muscle group that may be implicated in the movement of each joint. Such a system permits methods for determining a treatment regimen for treating the movement disorder, whereby the treatment regimen is based on the amplitude of the movements and/or the relative contribution and/or directional bias of each muscle group to the movements caused by the movement disorder.
Handheld system of automatic acupoint stimulation
A handheld system of automatic acupoint stimulation has a case, a camera unit, a storage unit, a human-machine-interface (HMI) unit, a processing unit, an acupoint recognizing unit, and an acupoint stimulating unit. The case has an accommodating space and a handle portion. The camera unit is to capture an image from a body part of a user. The storage unit is to store multiple predetermined acupoint data. The HMI unit is to receive an input signal. The processing unit searches for at least one predetermined acupoint datum that is corresponding to the input signal. The acupoint recognizing unit is to receive the at least one predetermined acupoint datum and obtain a reference length and a beginning basis to locate the acupoint. The acupoint stimulating unit is to stimulate the acupoint of the user located by the acupoint recognizing unit.
Assistive orthotic device with motors and sensors
A motorized tensioning mechanism for orthotic devices, such as a knee brace, wherein the controls for the motorized tensioning mechanism may be manual, automatic, or a hybrid of both. Sensors associated with the orthotic device may inform the user regarding tension or other aspects of the device, and, in cases, may automatically adjust tension in the motorized tensioning mechanism.
Therapeutic apparatus and therapeutic method
A therapeutic apparatus, which treats fatigue of the whole body, is provided. A plurality of speakers/sensors which apply an oscillating pressure to a subject are provided. An airtight chamber and a vacuum pump unit, which change the subject into the state of a negative pressure from the atmospheric pressure, are provided. A control unit adjusts distribution of the oscillating pressure by the output of each speaker/sensor is provided. Further, the control unit adjusts each speaker/sensor, in order that the oscillating pressure of a same extent is applied to a plurality of parts of the body, simultaneously. Thereby, the whole body of the subject can recover from fatigue.

Monitoring system for determining the efficacy of a compression device
Disclosed is a monitoring system for determining the efficacy of at least one compression device for use in compression therapy. The monitoring system comprises at least one pressure sensor for measuring a pressure exerted onto a body part of a user by the compression device and at least one evaluation unit which is connectable to the pressure sensor. The evaluation unit is adapted to acquire at least one resting pressure p.sub.rest with the user being in a resting position. The evaluation unit is further adapted to determine at least one extended standing pressure p.sub.standing, extended with the user being in a standing position, by using the following procedure: the evaluation unit acquires a measurement curve of pressure values after a position change of the user into the standing position and a slope of the measurement curve is automatically compared to at least one endpoint threshold value and, depending on a result of the comparison, an endpoint of a change in the measurement curve induced by the position change is automatically detected, and a pressure value acquired at or after the endpoint is assigned to the extended standing pressure p.sub.standing, extended.
ACTIVE ADAPTABLE COMPRESSION STRUCTURES
Embodiments include systems, methods, and products for prevention and treatment of orthostatic hypotension, edema, and nocturia. Aspects include a tubular compression sleeve having an adjustable effective radius. Aspects also include a position sensor. Aspects also include an actuator in communication with the position sensor, wherein the actuator is capable of modifying the effective radius of the tubular compression sleeve.
WHEELCHAIR FOR FOUR-LEGGED ANIMAL
A wheel chair 1A to be used for a four-legged animal that comprises: a healthy limb side holder 2 attached to the healthy limb side body; a impaired limb side holder 3 that is attached to the impaired limb side body and rotatably supports wheels 53; and a pair of connecting members 4 connecting the healthy limb side holder 2 and the impaired limb side holder 3 at the left and right positions of the four-legged animal respectively, wherein the pair of connecting members 4 are configured to be extendable in the longitudinal direction independently of each other.
