AUTOMATIC DRUG COMPOUNDER WITH HYGROSCOPIC MEMBER
Various aspects of the subject disclosure relate to a compounder system having a cartridge that includes fluid pathways controllable by valves of the cartridge. A pump component within the cartridge is actuable to move fluid through the controllable fluid pathways. The cartridge includes a needle extending from a cartridge body and fluidly coupled to at least one of the controllable fluid pathways. A vial puck is provided for attachment to a vial to be fluidly coupled to the cartridge by the needle. The vial puck may include a hygroscopic member to absorb fluid from the needle to ensure a dry disconnect. A shuttle valve may also be provided.
DRY DISCONNECT CARTRIDGE AND DUAL LUMEN NEEDLE FOR AUTOMATIC DRUG COMPOUNDER
Various aspects of the subject disclosure relate to a compounder system having a cartridge that includes fluid pathways controllable by valves of the cartridge. A pump component within the cartridge is actuable to move fluid through the controllable fluid pathways. The cartridge includes a needle extending from a cartridge body and fluidly coupled to at least one of the controllable fluid pathways. The cartridge includes a vacuum bellows that surrounds the needle when the bellows is in an extended configuration. The vacuum bellows is compressible to expose the needle and generates a vacuum condition within the bellows when the bellows is extended from a compressed configuration to the extended configuration. The needle may be a dual-lumen plastic needle.
A Medicine Compounding System
A medicine compounding system has a plurality of containers for containing medical compounds to be used to make up a medicine. A dosing chamber is connected to each of the plurality of containers and a drawing mechanism is used to draw compounds from the plurality of containers to the dosing chamber. A controller receives a script via a communications module which includes details of a patient and a medicine to be dispensed. The controller determines from the script which medical compounds and what quantities of each compound are to be used to form the medicine. The controller controls the drawing mechanism to draw the determined quantity of the medical compound from the container holding the compound into the dosing chamber, and once all of the required medical compounds have been drawn into the chamber to form the medicine, to eject the medicine formed in the dosing chamber via an outlet.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DUAL-FUNCTION SYRINGE DESIGN COMPOUNDING DEVICE FOR PERSONALIZED TREATMENTS
The present invention provides a system for preparing active agents for personalized treatment of a subject, wherein the system comprises a housing enclosing an interior space; an inventory structure comprising a plurality of chambers, wherein each chamber is capable of holding a dual-function syringe comprising a predetermined agent to be administered; means for selecting one or more dual-function syringes according to the predetermined active agent; means for moving the selected dual-function syringe to a desired location for transferring of the predetermined agent from the dual-function syringe to a product container or carrier; and means for sequentially transferring a controlled quantity of the predetermined agent from each selected dual-function syringe to the product container or carrier under positive or negative pressure.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR FACILITATING AND CONTROLLING USE OF A MEDICATION
A device includes a reservoir configured to store a drug formulation including at least one abuse-preventing additive. The device further includes means configured to remove the at least one abuse-preventing additive. The device further includes means configured to prevent access to the drug formulation.
VIAL PUCK SYSTEM FOR AUTOMATIC DRUG COMPOUNDER
A compounder system having a vial puck configured for attachment to a vial containing a drug is provided. The vial puck includes features for facilitating uniform control of vials of various sizes in an automatic compounder system. The vial puck features may include a vial recess for receiving a vial of a particular size and securing the vial within the vial recess. The features may also include a cylindrical central portion, perpendicular extensions that extend from a top of the cylindrical central portion, a gear extending from the cylindrical central portion, and a sealing member disposed in the cylindrical central portion. The vial puck may include a cylindrical protrusion configured to press against a septum of the vial to form a seal between the vial puck and the vial. The sealing member may be configured to receive a needle of the compounder system therethrough to allow access to the vial.
CAROUSEL FOR AUTOMATIC DRUG COMPOUNDER
A carousel configured to house a plurality of pump cartridges for a compounder system is provided. The carousel may include a plurality of cartridge pockets each having an extended portion that covers a portion of a cartridge and a bottom surface Shaving an extension with a recess. The bottom surface recess of each cartridge pocket may be shaped and sized to receive a needle housing of a pump cartridge in the cartridge pocket. A recess may be provided in the extended portion of each pocket that receives a protrusion that extends from a top surface of a backpack coupled to the pump cartridge to secure the pump cartridge in the cartridge pocket. The bottom surface recess may have an additional bottom surface that prevents actuation of the needle housing of the pump cartridge.
WASTE CONTAINER FOR AUTOMATIC DRUG COMPOUNDER
Various aspects of the subject disclosure relate to a compounder system having a cartridge that includes fluid pathways controllable by valves of the cartridge. A pump component within the cartridge is actuable to move fluid through the controllable fluid pathways, The cartridge includes a backpack for management of tubing to couple the cartridge to a receiving container. A disposable waste container is contained by the cartridge and the backpack. A syringe holder is provided for use of a syringe as a receiving container to receive a compounded medication.
