A pill cutter and a method for using thereof are provided. The pill cutter includes: a bottom case; a pressing plate provided with a blade and a shield plate provided with a slit. When the pressing plate rotates relative to the bottom case, the blade at least has a protected state and a pill-cutting state, in the protected state, the blade is positioned between the shield plate and the pressing plate after the two plates are separated from each other, and in the pill-cutting state, the blade passes through the slit and reaches the bottom case. The blade can be shielded automatically when the pill cutter is opened for putting the pill in, and safety of using the pill cutter is largely enhanced.

A pill crushing device pulverizes pills and then transfers the pulverized pills out of the device with minimal transfer loss and spillage. The device includes a storage portion and a pill chamber. The pill chamber forms a threaded connection with the storage portion that enables detachment. The storage portion stores the pill and operates the crushing mechanism. The pill is pulverized in the pill chamber. The pill chamber is disposed beneath the storage portion. A first spoon retains the pill and carries the pulverized pill out of the chamber along a longitudinal opening of the pill chamber. An optional second spoon detachably attaches to the first spoon to carry supplemental compositions to the pulverized pill.

A manually operated multiple pill or tablet splitter for simultaneously cutting or splitting a plurality of pills in a single operation is disclosed. The device includes a base member that provides a flat top surface for loading the pills, spring loaded alignment bars for containing, aligning, and holding the pills or tablets in a straight line, and a close fitting cover member having a cutting blade fitted inside which is surrounded by a retractable spring biased blade guard to cover the blade prevent injury. A pill crushing apparatus for use with first and second nestable cups comprising a first cup holder which is moved linearly toward a second cup mounting surface holding a second cup. The first cup holder rotates relative to the rotationally fixed second cup. During the crushing process, the pills first may begin to crush against the linear load being applied thereto, and thereafter grind into a fine powder due to the rotational force of the first cup against the second cup. The first cup and second cup have different sidewall angles to promote pill crushing while inhibiting migration of the crush material to prevent the crushed material from reaching the open gap between the top perimeters of the nesting cups. Each cup includes a plurality of lugs having a curved profile configured to engage respective recesses on the cup holders. Each cup is fabricated through thermoforming or vacuum forming techniques.

A device for cutting a medicine tablet includes a base extending along an axis, a cutting device having a fixed cutter and a movable cutter base, and a carrying plate movably disposed inside the base and having a carrying face for a medicine tablet. The fixed cutter is fixedly disposed inside the base, the movable cutter base is optionally positionably moves between protruding and retreating positions axially, the movable cutter base has a movable cutter, when the movable cutter is in the protruding position, a blade of the movable cutter is near a blade of the fixed cutter, and when the movable cutter base is in the retreating position, the blade of the movable cutter is remote from the blade of the fixed cutter. The present invention provides composition, apparatus, kit and method for compounding an orally administered dosage form of at least one medicament comprising a container for mixing a crushed medicament with a gel-based carrier. The container comprises at least one chamber and at least one membrane as a separating element. The container comprises a flexible membrane, when removed or partially broken, provides a mixture of a defined dosage form of said medicament comprising the crushed medicament and said gel-based carrier. The membrane is further configured to prevent contamination, overdosing and non sanctioned abuse of active ingredient of said medicament.
