A pet treat pocket is provided. The pet treat pocket has a flexible member including a pocket disposed on a top surface of the flexible member. The pocket defines an interior volume and the interior volume is sized to encapsulate a pill. An exterior length of the pocket is less than a length of the flexible member, and an exterior width of the pocket is less than a width of the flexible member such that the flexible member extends beyond the exterior dimensions of the pocket forming a lip surrounding a circumference of the pocket. The flexible member and the pocket are both composed of an ingestible and pet-safe material. The ingestible and pet-safe material can adhere to itself such that the flexible material can be molded to completely envelope the pocket and maintain a sealed configuration.

The DCU stores data related to time stamps, optional dates, and cavity locations of item removal from and optional used item return to respective ones of the MCC cavities to help users track item usage (e.g., pen needle assemblies) to improve medication delivery management such as insulin injections with an injection pen and pen needle assemblies. Indicators can be generated to indicate from which cavity the next item should be extracted to encourage injection site rotation.

An acoustic emitter such as a whistle is engaged with a container such as an eye drop bottle. An event such as dispensing medication or opening the container causes a characteristic acoustic emission, such as an ultrasonic pitch of specific frequency. The emitter may be purposefully configured to produce the emission, may operate so that the emission is a natural consequence of dispensing medication (or other event), and may operate transparently to the user. The emitter may be part of a larger remote, such as a squeezable air-filled shell with an aperture to accept the container. A cell phone or other station receives the acoustic emission, and if a processor thereof determines that the emission is characteristic of the emitter the event is recorded, transmitted, displayed, or otherwise registered.
