In the medication support device, at least one of the second container or the first containers is attachable to and detachable from the housing.

A smart pill organizer or pillbox facilitates patient adherence by remotely monitoring medicine usage in a home. A patient web site is accessible locally on the Wi-Fi network by the patient or remotely over the Internet by a guardian who can be a relative, health care provider, or service. Remote pillbox access is also available through a set of email and text commands. Dose types include pillbox doses in pill tray bins, external doses in their original medicine containers, and remote doses taken away from home. Dose frequencies include monthly, weekly, daily, and multiple doses per day. Local and remote dose reminders are provided. Pillbox doses are recorded when the pillbox bin opens, while external and remote doses are recorded with replies to email and text reminders. Real time numerical adherence measures ranging from 0 to 100% are provided for dose quantity, dose timing, dose spacing, and overall adherence.

Provided herein is a system for automated dispensing of articles. Systems may include: a robotic arm; an end-of-arm tool attached to the robotic arm; a scanning device proximate the end-of-arm tool; and a controller to control the robotic arm and the end-of-arm tool. The end-of-arm tool may include a body and two or more vacuum cups extending from the body, where the controller controls a level of suction provided to each of the two or more vacuum cups individually. Each of the two or more vacuum cups extending from the body may be movable between a retracted position proximate the body, and an extended position away from the body of the end-of-arm tool in response to instruction from the controller. Suction may be provided only to the vacuum cups of the two or more vacuum cups that are disposed in the extended position.

A medication dispensing device may include a plurality of trays, each tray optionally including a load cell configured to measure a mass/weight of a medication contained in the respective tray. Each tray is placeable in a medication accessible position and a medication inaccessible position. A processor provides instructions to selectively place each tray in the medication accessible position, and to determine, based on any change in the mass of the medication placed in the medication accessible position, whether the appropriate amount of the medication is removed from the tray.

The take-out device is configured to take out a specific one of the one-dose packages of medicines from the container. The transfer device is configured to transfer the specific one of the one-dose packages of medicines taken out from the container. The one-dose packages of medicines are configured to be placed at predetermined positions partitioned by the plurality of partitions in the medicine distribution member.
