Tension expansion clamping tool block

An apparatus for expanding and belling a tube is provided including a receiver for supporting a first end of the tube. A stripper block assembly orients a second end of the tube along an axis. The stripper block assembly includes a first grip and a second grip movable in and out of engagement with a surface of the tube. The apparatus also includes a movable belling tool axially aligned with the tube. The belling tool bells a desired length of the tube and supports the second end of the tube. An expander tool is arranged to pass through the axially aligned tube to expand the tube. The expander tool includes an expander rod and an expander bullet. A portion of the expander bullet has a diameter larger than the diameter of the tube.

A device for expanding an end of a pipe made of a plastic having a shape memory includes a plurality of spreading elements movable in a radial direction from a starting position, in which the spreading elements are insertable by a predetermined distance into the end of the pipe, to an outward-extended position, in which spreading surfaces of the spreading elements are each brought into an effective position against an interior surface of the end of the pipe, so as to expand the end of the pipe. A mechanism is configured to move the spreading elements from the starting position to the outward-extended position. An actuator is configured to vary a maximum radial distance of the spreading surfaces in the outward-extended position from a center axis. At least one fastener is configured to lock the radial maximum radial distance set by the actuator.

An expansion toolhead configured to enable the expansion of multiple different sized diameters of cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) tubing with a single expansion toolhead. The expansion toolhead including a cap operably coupled to an expansion tool, and a plurality of jaws forming a 360 degree jaw section operably coupled to the cap, each of the plurality of jaws including an expansion tool interface portion forming a conical recess enabling a cone-shaped wedge of the expansion tool to move the jaw section between an unexpanded position and an expanded position, and a PEX tubing interface portion having a distal end, a proximal end and a plurality of lands positioned therebetween configured to form a corresponding plurality of substantially uniform diameter portions of the jaw section sequentially increasing m diameter between the distal end and the proximal end for the expansion of multiple different standard sized diameters of PEX tubing.

HOLLOW MEMBER AND HOLLOW MEMBER MANUFACTURING METHOD

The present hollow member has a circumferential hardness difference portion in at least a portion in a longitudinal direction along a central axis. When the circumferential hardness difference portion is viewed in a cross section orthogonal to the central axis, a wall thickness difference obtained by subtracting an absolute minimum value of the wall thickness from an absolute maximum value of the wall thickness in a circumferential direction of the cross section is 20% or less of an average value of the wall thickness in a whole circumference of the cross section. Furthermore, when an average of integration of Vickers hardness in the whole circumference of the cross section is used as a hardness threshold, the cross section includes a low strength range in which the Vickers hardness along the circumferential direction is equal to or less than the hardness threshold and a high strength range in which the Vickers hardness along the circumferential direction is more than the hardness threshold.

SUMMARY

The invention relates to a method and a device for expanding at least a section of an initial tube blank (2) made of plastic or metal in such a way that an expanded tube blank (1) is obtained which tapers in the direction of an end of the tube blank that is not affected by the expansion process. The initial tube blank is fixed in a holding device (4) in a first position (6a), a first mandrel (3) is inserted into the initial tube blank, pressed therein and held in the pressed-in position for a predetermined heating time period, so that at least a part of the tube blank is expanded, and finally the first mandrel is pulled out of the expanded tube blank (1), wherein, when the first mandrel is pulled out of the tube blank, either compressed air is blown into the interior of the expanded tube blank through the first mandrel provided with at least one corresponding first air channel (5), or the expanded tube blank is mechanically stripped off.

A pipe expanding tool includes a wedge, a plurality of jaws, a spring and a first rotary member. The wedge is movable in a reciprocating manner between a first position and a second position along a first axis. The jaws are rotatable around the first axis and movable to a closed position and to an open position. The jaws are configured to move from the closed position to the open position as the wedge moves from the first position to the second position, and to move from the open position to the closed position as the wedge moves from the second position to the first position. The first rotary member is engaged with the jaws such that the first rotary member is integrally rotatable with the jaws, and is configured to be rotated only in one direction around the first axis by an elastic force of the spring.
