CAN END
A can end has a public side and an opposing product side. A circumferential curl is located about a center axis and defines an outer perimeter of the can end. A circumferential wall extends downwardly from the curl. A circumferential, generally U-shaped countersink extends radially inwardly from the circumferential wall relative to the center axis and upwardly. A center panel extends radially inwardly from the countersink relative to the center axis and has a displaceable tear panel defined by frangible score and a hinge segment on the public side and a tab fixed to the public side which has a nose portion overlying a portion of the displaceable tear panel. A circumferential panel joins the countersink with the center panel and has a first panel radius joined to a second panel radius by a short wall extending upwardly and inwardly. The circumferential panel has a bead formed therein.
CONTAINER CLOSURE WITH SHIFTED MATERIAL LINE AND TOOLING AND ASSOCIATED METHOD FOR MAKING A CLOSURE
A container closure includes a generally planar body having a product side and a customer side. The body includes a container opening. The container opening includes a shifted material line.
End closure with large opening ring pull tab
An end closure for food and beverage containers is provided. The end closure comprises a central panel with a large opening defined by a score line. The end closure further comprises a ring pull tab operably interconnected to the central panel proximate to a peripheral edge of the central panel. Prior to opening the end closure, a tail end of the ring pull tab is positioned over the tear panel. In some embodiments, the tear panel may completely detach from the end closure upon opening.
Can lid
A can lid comprising: a main body comprising a laminate metal sheet, the laminate metal sheet comprising a metal sheet and a first resin film on a major surface of the metal sheet, the major surface having a score line delimiting an opening piece, the first resin film comprising a first resin layer comprising a dimer acid-copolymerized polyester resin and being amorphous; and a tab attached to the main body and adapted to cause a cleavage along the score line.
STAMPING PRESS ARRANGEMENT
The invention relates to a stamping press arrangement comprising a plurality of first stamping press units arranged adjacent to one another, which have working directions extending parallel in relation to each other in a common plane, and comprising a second stamping press unit, the working direction of which extends perpendicularly in relation to the working directions of the first stamping press units, such that material processed in said stamping press unit can be guided in the direct extension of the working direction thereof into the working regions of the first stamping press units. The stamping press units each have a crankshaft portion or eccentric shaft portion, by means of which the travel movement of the press ram is effected via a connecting rod. The crankshaft portion or eccentric shaft portion of the first stamping press units are driven forcibly together via a common drive unit with the same speed and comprise a common axis of rotation. The crankshaft portion or eccentric shaft portion of the stamping press unit is coupled to the crankshaft portion or eccentric shaft portion of the first stamping press units so as to forcibly rotate therewith in a synchronous manner. The invention allows high-precision and high-speed stamping press arrangements to be provided for economically mass-producing multi-part stamping and shaped and punched products which have low tolerances, such as container ends with press-in or pull tabs for opening without tools, in a cost-effective manner.
Can end with a coined rivet, tooling assembly therefor and a method of forming
A can end including a central panel and a coined rivet disposed on the central panel. A press, a station, and/or a tooling assembly structured to form a coined rivet as well as a method to form the coined rivet is also provided.
END CLOSURE WITH A RING PULL ACTUATED SECONDARY VENT
The present invention relates to a container end closure that generally comprises a pour opening and a secondary vent opening which improves venting during emptying of contents from the container. In particular, the present invention relates to an end closure for a container having scores defining a secondary vent opening which may optionally be opened. The secondary vent opening has a significantly larger area then vents of prior art designs and thereby improves pour rate and smoothness of pour. After the pour opening is opened using a pull tab interconnected to the end closure, a consumer may selectively open the secondary vent opening by pulling back on the tab.

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PRODUCING TEAR-OFF LIDS AND TEAR-OFF LID
A tear-off lid with a curled edge of the removal opening is formed such that before the edge is curled, a plastics layer provided as a band of low thickness and preferably only 0.1 mm thickness is applied to the collar of the lid ring. In this way, a good seal of the cut edge of the tear-off lid is produced by economical means and with the possibility for production at a high rate.
CAN END WITH RETORT RESISTANT PANEL, AND TOOLING AND ASSOCIATED METHOD FOR PROVIDING SAME
A method of making a can end, which includes a recessed panel defined by an upwardly extending chuck wall, a peripheral scoreline disposed in a public side of the panel proximate to the base of the chuck wall, a tab fastened to the panel by a rivet, includes the step of employing tooling to form a pressure resistance bead extends around the panel inboard of the peripheral scoreline and outboard of the rivet. The tooling forms a saw tooth panel formation proximate to the pressure resistance bead inboard of the pressure resistance bead. Among other benefits, the pressure resistance bead and saw tooth panel formation created by the tooling and method combine to resist wrinkling or other undesired deformation of the can end.
