An overcap can be configured to removably connect to the cap using the second connection element. A method for providing a nutritional composition from a container to an enteral line may include: removing an overcap from a cap, the cap is configured to direct a nutritional composition through a channel within the cap, the cap removably connected to the container; connecting the cap sealingly to the enteral line; and applying a pressure to the container to direct the nutritional composition from the container through the channel and into the enteral line.

GUARD FOR ADAPTOR IN AN INTRAVENOUS LINE

There is provided a guard for an intravenous adaptor. The guard comprises a polymer sheet formed of a polymer film, the polymer sheet having left, right and middle portions; tear lines within the polymer sheet, located on either side of the central extent of the middle portion; a pull strip extending lengthwise, generally parallel to the central extent and positioned between the tear lines; and an adhesive applied to a periphery of the polymer sheet and over the ends of the pull strip, the tear lines penetrating through the adhesive. The left and right portions of the polymer sheet are arranged to be folded onto each other to form a folded polymer sheet adhered by the adhesive to define a pocket, which is openable by tearing the folded polymer sheet and adhesive along the tear lines.

Exemplary embodiments of the disclosure may be drawn to a device having a vessel configured to contain a source of lipids and a chamber fluidly connected to an outlet of the vessel. The chamber may contain immobilized lipase positioned within a flow path in the chamber along which the lipids flow when released from the vessel into the chamber. The device may also include an outlet through which the lipids flow after passing through the chamber.

METHODS, COMPOSITIONS, AND DEVICES FOR SUPPLYING DIETARY FATTY ACID NEEDS

Nutritional formulas comprising long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFAs) are provided, along with methods and devices for preparing and/or administering nutritional formulas. In some embodiments, a percentage of the LC-PUFAs in the nutritional formula are in the form of monogiycerides and/or free fatty acids. In some embodiments, the nutritional formulas do not comprise added lipase. Also provided are methods for providing nutrition to a subject, methods for improving fat absorption, methods for improving cognitive ability, methods for preventing chronic lung disease, and methods for reducing the length of time a patient requires total parenteral nutrition.

NASOGASTRIC OR OROGASTRIC TUBE TIPS

An NG feeding tube tip (50) is disclosed, which has a main body portion that fits to the end of an NG or OG feeding tube (20). The main body has a hollow interior that is in fluid communication with the bore of the NG or OG tube (20); and an aperture (56) in a sidewall through which feed can be given to a patient, and through which a sample of stomach content can be aspirated. The tip (50) is characterised by the outer wall of the main body comprising a recess or groove (60, 62, 80), which intersects the aperture (56), and which extends at least partially around the exterior surface of the main body. The recess or groove (60, 62, 80) prevents or inhibits an aperture-occluding seal between the stomach wall (30) and the NG or OG tube tip being formed, especially when a vacuum is applied to the NG or OG tube (20) during an aspiration procedure.

AN ENTERAL FEEDING DEVICE

A portable enteral feeding apparatus includes a pouch which defines a reservoir for enteral fluid and having an outlet for delivery of enteral fluid from the pouch. An outlet spout has a pouch spigot connected to the pouch outlet and a connector spigot which is adapted for mounting of a connector shaft, in one case a cross fit shaft of an ENFit connector. A valve is mounted to the spout. The connector spigot has a mounting structure for mounting a connector shaft of a PEG feeding system to the connector spigot only when the connector shaft is extended through the valve. An interlock prevents fixing of a connector shaft to the connector spigot if the connector shaft is not extended through the valve.

Systems, apparatus, and methods for placing an elongated tube within a patient's body are described herein. In some embodiments, an apparatus includes an elongated tube, a magnetic tip, and an inflatable member. The elongated tube can have a first end and a second end, and can define a first lumen and a second lumen. The first lumen can extend from the first end to the second end. The magnetic tip can be coupled to the first end of the elongated tube. The magnetic tip can be tapered toward a distal end of the magnetic tip. An inflatable member can be disposed within the elongated tube proximal of the tapered magnetic tip and fluidically coupled to the second lumen such that the inflatable member can receive fluid via the second lumen.
