A method for the production of a piston made of steel, for an internal combustion engine, in which the upper piston part is produced using the forging method, and the lower piston part is produced using the forging or casting method, and they are subsequently welded to one another. To simplify the production method and make it cheaper, the upper piston part is forged using the method of hot forming and of cold calibration, to finish it to such an extent that further processing of the combustion bowl and of the upper cooling channel regions can be eliminated.

The invention discloses a method for producing an internal combustion engine piston having at least one cavity which is filled with an alkali metal cooling medium and is subsequently closed. Method for Producing a Monoblock Piston, and Monoblock Piston
Disclosed is a monoblock or cooling channel piston and a method for producing a monoblock piston for use in an internal combustion engine. A piston blank includes a circumferential collar protruding radially in the region of the piston crown is first produced and the collar is then shaped. A contact region on a top region of the piston skirts and the collar is shaped such that the outer circumferential edge thereof points at a distance to the contact region and forms a defined gap. The gap is then sealed by a closure element in order to form a closed cooling channel.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A PISTON
A method for manufacturing a piston of an internal combustion engine from a piston upper part and a piston lower part may include producing at least the piston lower part as a forged steel part. A partial cross section of a cooling duct may be provided in the piston lower part. A closed supply inlet funnel may be forged within the piston lower part. The closed supply inlet funnel may be bored into the piston lower part from the cooling duct. A borehole may be introduced into the piston lower part obliquely to a piston axis. The piston lower part and the piston upper part may be welded to one another.
COMPLEX-SHAPED FORGED PISTON OIL GALLERIES
A steel piston with an oil gallery, and process for forming a steel piston oil gallery channel, which corresponds to the complex shape of the combustion bowl in the piston crown. The oil gallery channel is first forged to the basic shape that corresponds to the shape of the walls of the combustion bowl. Machine-turning surfaces in the oil gallery channel can be machine-finished as desired. Surfaces in the oil gallery which cannot be machined with conventional turning operations, such as recesses and protrusions into the channel, are left in the original forged condition.
Method of Producing a Cooling Channel System for Internal Combustion Engines and Piston Produced in This Way
A method for producing a cooling channel system for an internal combustion engine, which has a cooling channel in the piston crown. The piston crown is adjoined by a lower piston part having a piston boss, pin bores and piston skirts. Firstly, a piston blank having a peripheral collar projecting radially in the region of the piston crown is produced, wherein the collar, forming a subsequent ring zone wall is then reshaped and, in a transition area between the piston crown and the lower piston part, a contact area for the collar is formed, and the collar is reshaped in such a way until the outer radially peripheral edge comes very close to or completely into contact with the contact area in order to form a closed cooling channel. Following the reshaping, the end region of the ring zone wall forms a defined gap (X) with respect to the upper edge of the piston skirt.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A PISTON
A method for producing a piston of an internal combustion engine, with a cooling duct, may include producing a piston blank with a cooling duct, closing an inlet and an outlet of the cooling duct by at least one closure element, machine-finishing the piston blank, and removing the at least one closure element.
