Method and System for Tracking Inventory and Usage of Pharmaceuticals in Medical Facilities
Method and system for tracking the inventory and reimbursement status of an inventory of drug doses held at medical facilities and administered to patients are disclosed. In one embodiment, the methods comprise facilitating the addition of drug doses into an inventory database, facilitating the assignment of specific doses to specific patients, and facilitating the transfer of drug doses from one location to another, all accomplished without the necessity of creating and/or scanning machine readable data carriers.

A medication inventory system may include a medication tray that includes compartments for storing respective medications with each medication having a respective medication identifier associated therewith. The medication tray may have a tray identifier associated therewith. The medication inventory system may also include a mobile wireless communications device configured to obtain images of the medication tray and generate a current medication stocking list of the medication tray from the images. The medication inventory system may also be configured to determine a desired medication stocking list for the medication tray based upon the tray identifier and determine at least one missing medication based upon the current medication stocking list and the desired medication stocking list.
Systems and Methods for Tamper-Resistant Securing Device for a Container
In some embodiments, systems and methods for a tamper-resistant securing device for use with a closeable container include a housing assembly, a lock member, and an identifier. The housing assembly can be configured to be moved from a sealed configuration to an unsealed configuration. The lock member can be at least partially enclosed within the housing assembly and the lock member can be configured to be moved between an unlocked orientation and a locked orientation. The identifier can be accessible when the lock member is in the locked orientation. The housing assembly and the lock member are configured to inhibit or permit movement of the lock member based on the sealed or unsealed configuration of the housing assembly.

MEDICATION VERIFICATION METHOD AND SYSTEM
A medication dispensing system includes an automated dispensing device that includes cells with electronically activated locks. The device is configured to detect when medication counts in the cells fall below predetermined thresholds. The system further includes a plurality of first electronic devices that are associated with some of the cells and that have imagers. In response to any of the medication counts in the cells being below the predetermined threshold, the automated dispensing device is configured to automatically send a replenishment needed notification to the first electronic device associated with the cell. That first electronic device is configured to transmit a picture of a medication to a second electronic device. In response to a positive verification by a user of the second electronic device that the medication in the picture is the correct medication, the second electronic device is configured to transmit an unlock signal to the automated dispensing device.
Label reader for automatic drug compounder
An automatic drug compounder system may be provided with various components and capabilities for reconstituting a drug in a vial and providing the reconstituted drug to a receiving container. The system may include a camera for capturing images of the vial and processing circuitry for extracting information such as a lot number and an expiration date from the images. The system may rotate the vial while capturing the images to capture images of the entire vial. The processing circuitry may search a portion of the image for the lot number and expiration date, the portion based on stored information. The stored information may include a location, orientation, font size, or font color for printed information for a particular vial. The stored information may be retrieved based on a bar code read by the system.
Medication Dispensing Arrangement without Scanning
A pharmacy tray for medications and medical items for patient treatment is placed onto a shelf that carries a grid of optical presence sensors. The location and identification of each item in the tray is recorded on a digital inventory for that tray. At the patient treatment site each item taken is recorded and the remaining inventory is updated without scanning the items.
IMAGING SYSTEM FOR IDENTIFYING MEDICATION CONTAINERS
The imaging system includes a rotating element that is configured to rotate about a central axis. A plurality of scanners are fixedly attached with the rotating element. Each scanner has a lens that faces generally towards the central axis, and the scanners are spaced apart from one another around the central axis. The scanners are configured to identify an optically readable machine readable code contained on the medication container. An actuator is operably connected with the rotating element and is configured to rotate the rotating element and the scanners around the central axis from respective e first positions to respective second positions to allow the scanners to image different areas of the medication container in response to a failure of the scanners to identify the machine readable code when the scanners were in the respective first positions.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TRACKING MEDICAL EXPIRATION DATES
An injectable medication tab used to track expiration dates has an informative tab, a release string, an adhesive liner, and a quick release fastener. The informative tab provides visually accessible information about a bottle to which the injectable medication tab is attached. An expiration information portion of the informative tab protrudes from the exterior surface of the bottle after being opened. The adhesive liner is superimposed onto a mounting surface of the informative tab and attaches the informative tab to the bottle. The quick release fastener is a coupling mechanism that connects between an edge of the informative tab and the release string. The release string forms a detachable connection holding the expiration information portion against the bottle until the bottle is opened. Once opened, the expiration information section to protrudes from the bottle until the expiration information is recorded and the medical information portion is adhered to the bottle.
Medication vending device with verification that medications loaded therein match current prescription
A medication vending device is integrated into systems that ensure compliance with a medication dosing schedule of a patient. The medication vending device contains medication packages to be vended in accordance with the patient's dosing schedule. The system can check for prescription changes that occurred between the date of generation of the medication packages and the date of loading the medication packages into the medication vending device, and provide appropriate alert messages to inhibit loading of the medication packages into the medication vending device. In addition, post-loading prescription changes can be detected, and appropriate alert messages or actions can be taken regarding the medication packages currently loaded into the medication vending device.
