A casting apparatus including a casting die having at least two die halves movable relative to one another between a closed position and an open position, the die halves each comprising a front surface in which a recess is formed, an adjusting device for moving one of the die halves, and a clamping device switchable between a clamping position when the die is closed, and a release position when the die is open. The clamping device is an integral part of the die halves and includes a counter bearing and a locking device. In the clamping position, the locking device is in a form fitting engagement with the counter bearing to lock the die halves in the closed position, and in the release position, the locking device is released from the counter bearing to release the die halves from each other for opening of the die.

A gap control part controls a clamping device so that mating surfaces in a die face each other across a gap, and thereby a cavity and an external part of the die communicate across the gap. A molten metal feed control part controls a molten metal feed device so as to feed molten metal into a sleeve when the gap is being maintained. An injection control part controls an injection device so as to start a forward movement of a plunger at a time when the gap is maintained and there is the molten metal in the sleeve. A clamping control part controls a clamping device so as to make the mating surfaces abut against each other to eliminate the gap after the forward movement of the plunger is started and before the molten metal reaches a molten metal surface height at which the molten metal flows into the gap.

DIE CASTING MACHINE HAVING IMPROVED MOUNTING PLATE
The present invention relates to a mounting plate, in particular a fixed mounting plate, for a die-casting machine, wherein the mounting plate has a dome-shaped cavity, the base of which is in the second side of the mounting plate and is open and which tapers towards the centroid of the receiving openings on the first side. The present invention further relates to a die-casting machine having such a mounting plate.

A die casting machine includes a clamping device which opens and closes and clamps a pair of die halves, an injection apparatus which performs injection to the pair of die halves by making a plunger move forward in a sleeve communicated with a space between the pair of die halves, and a control device which controls the clamping device and injection apparatus. The control device includes an injection control part and press-use clamping control part. The injection control part controls the injection apparatus so as to start the injection in a state where the pair of die halves face each other through a gap. The press-use clamping control part controls the clamping device so that the die contact and clamping are carried out after the start of injection. Further, the injection control part performs control for decelerating the plunger before the plunger stops.

A die casting machine includes a clamping device which opens and closes and clamps a pair of die halves, an injection apparatus which performs injection to the pair of die halves by making a plunger move forward in a sleeve communicated with a space between the pair of die halves, and a control device which controls the clamping device and injection apparatus. The control device includes an injection control part and press-use clamping control part. The injection control part controls the injection apparatus so as to start the injection in a state where the pair of die halves face each other through a gap. The press-use clamping control part controls the clamping device so that the die contact and clamping are carried out after the start of injection. A die casting machine is provided that includes a controller, a casting mold, and a material injection system. A method for operating the die casting machine is provided that includes detecting a downtime event using a controller, determining a length of time between a beginning of the downtime event and an end of the downtime event, determining a number of preheat castings to produce in a preheat cycle, and transmitting a signal instructing the casting mold and the material injection system to produce the number of preheat castings.

The present invention provides a movable platen support apparatus which, with a linear guide having a minimum necessary load rating, can secure a sufficient traveling life of the linear guide and, in addition, can secure the rigidity of the linear guide which is necessary and sufficient taking into consideration a moment that acts on a movable platen. A movable platen support apparatus 40 according to the present invention includes a guide mechanism which movably engages a rail 41 extending on a frame 11 in the direction of movement of a movable platen 16, to which a movable mold 19 is to be mounted, and which movably supports the movable platen 16. The guide mechanism includes a linear guide 42 composed of blocks 42a to 42d arranged in a line, in which at least one of the blocks 42a to 42d, e.g. the blocks 42b, 42c, has a load rating which differs from the load rating(s) of the other block(s), e.g. the blocks 42a, 42d.
